  1. Setting the gain with a DMM doesn't mean your amp isn't clipping. The only way to truly tell is using an Oscope. Try backing the gain down a hair and see if it helps.
  2. Most people on the boards seem to say they're some of the best 8" subs around.
  3. I messed with that thing a while back. It gets damn near every one right.
  4. Got the z15 in finally. Sounds good as hell.

  5. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16847_Stinger+SPT822+-Gold-.html Maybe something like a 4 to 8 gauge reducer. Twist the two 8 gauge wires together and insert them into the 4 gauge opening. Edit: Ninja'd by Eric. But, yeah, what he said.
  6. What do you mean you turned the sub down on your EQ? The EQ in your head unit? Do you mean you turned down the sub level, or did you turn down the lowest EQ position (like 50 hz or whatever)?
  7. Donate plasma. Probably 40-50 bucks a week for 2-3 hours of sitting there. I used to do it in high school
  8. This. You tell him all your info and he designs and cuts a box and ships it to you. You then just glue and screw it together. Pretty good idea. http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48040 I thought about doing that but I'm just going to build my own. Got my wood today, actually.
  9. Like fecupe said I think the lifetime warranty is only for competitors. Pretty sure it's 5 years for normal folk.
  10. Hmm...well bass boost usually implies boosting the bass at a certain frequency (like 45 hz). Sub level is just an adjustment that lowers the voltage that the HU outputs through the RCAs. So, if by bass boost you actually mean its the subwoofer out level, then yes, you want it set high. The higher the voltage output from your HU, the lower you can set your gain on the amp. If it's an actual bass boost you don't want to use it because it will introduce clipping. For example, my Pioneer has a sub level, and also has a bass level, which is a bass boost. I have that all the way down. You also want to turn "Loud" off.
  11. Don't set your LP to 50. 70 to 8O is better. Like he said above, put your sub level all the way up. You want your HU to put out as many volts as possible which will in turn allow you to keep your gain lower at the amp, and bass boost down.
  12. Went there a few times back in the day. Don't bother anymore.
  13. Even if you get a new setup, you'll still have to get a new box somehow.
  14. A lot of things that are loud and sound good. Ever thought of building a ported box for your JLs and trying that for a while?
  15. .75 sealed is pretty big. That's about the recommended ported size. For sealed he recommends .3 cubes I think.
  16. Take a sawzall and cut some holes in your roof and doors. Or you could just keep the sound inside the car where it belongs.
  17. Found that in another thread. That's for the Z v.2 subs. If you're talking about the Z v1, I doubt he has any of those left. I'm pretty sure I bought one of the last ones months ago.

  19. I'm pretty sure he's talked about having a lung infection in the past (from mdf dust I think). His shutdown at this time is because of some kind of issues with his kidney(s). I just checked on SSA.
  20. Yeah his boxes are pretty impressive. IIRC he had some kidney issues and had to take a break for a while.
  21. That's funny, because that's exactly how Dave at PSI says to ship motors to him. The guy probably didn't have enough padding around the edges, though.
