  1. if you can just make a box with an external port that is removable and try some different tuning . figure out what you like best and then make a real box with that tuning in mind.
  2. another 2k coming in soon. all mids and highs should be done by the weekend. then i can go ham on my system and see what it can do!

  3. theyre a musical box not a numbers box basically itll play anything very nicely and can be loud on low power
  4. if you want a ground pounder and dont care about numbers tune low.. like 42-45 hz and have lots of port. 17-20 per. my old 4th peaked at 33 hz. it was two 12s on 2k and it was great. didnt play much over 42 hz though. if your feeling froggy go between 20-25 per on port area. but unless your design is good and know you wont have unloading issues id stay 20 and below A ground pounder with simply 2 12's you sayyy. Haa, no, that's too broad of a spectrum for me, i dont listen to all songs with low ass bass, if so, id sure as hell tune lower...honestly, i was devise away to make the port swappable so i can try out what the different port tunings sound like on it and in my car without constantly having to destroy the box. just used two sided foam tape for an adjustable removable port you can do whatever port you want. doesnt need to be external. you cann do an internal port that can be removed

  6. Yeah right now I set all my stuff using a multimeter, I'm looking into getting a good oscilloscope or the SMD DD-1 using a multimeter will not keep you from clipping. i suggest buying a dd1 or oscope. if you plan on playing it before you have those then dont turn your gain up much and go off the clip light on the bass knob
  7. glad to see we could help save you from blowing your subs apart, just remember to set your gains correctly. clipping on that 3.5k will fuck up your subs in a heartbeat
  8. Lol i have level 4's with XL softparts I was in no way implying or at least i didnt mean to imply that they were the same as Xl's. But I appreciate your help because I'm either going to stick with my 4's and get the 3.5k or get 2 XL's and go with the beastly 5.0k if money isnt a problem then go big or go home. but level 4s and a 3.5k will be no disapppointment
  9. and remember, just because one man does it, doesnt mean you can... either it was a burp... or the damn thing was not pushing out 3.5k daily. it would have tore that sub up in a heartbeat.
  10. I have the electrical covered but I appreciate the looking out! and I say Lvl. 4 XL because they are the Level 4's with the XL spider and coil upgrade no, they are not... the motor is bigger on the XL, go look at the weight, its like 32 lbs on the level 4 where as teh XL is like 52... cant tell me soft parts = 20 lbs i think hes trying to say his level 4's have an upgraded soft parts. not that its an xl.. could be wrong though then its just level 4s with level 5 upgrade, but that still doesnt make it anywhere near what a XL can handle. and if thats what he meant.. i wouldnt put a 5k to 2 level 4s, even with the level 5 softparts... thats just me.. i would do a 3500 and call it a day, because if you get any real power out of that 5k, bye bye subs even then.. i think hell fry up the amp first. i doubt he knows what kind of electrical he needs for this.. OP to straighten all this out.. what kind of electrical are you planning on running. and i wouldnt throw 2k per sub. I appreciate all input. I posted what electrical i will be running for the amp. and i was going with the 5.0k because ive seen one level 4 handle 3.5k. But i accept all sugestions and critiques! was it a clamped 3.5k anyone can run a 3.5k amp on a single level 4.. and yeah youll need probably a couple more batteries to hold your voltage down pat. also i agree that you should get more motor before you attempt to put that much power out. I will also have another Kinetik under the hood but it won't be specifically designated for the 5.0k if you think that will help with my volatge. So you think 2 XL's would do well if i wanted to stick with the 5.0k? m2's yes. they are a pretty good match for a 5k.

  12. im pretty sure that most all fords have a pcm controlled alt. so unless your bypassing that your not going to use the full power of your alternator. even then on a stock electrical your alt probly does maybe 100 amps. your cars probly using 30 amps to run.. so 70 amps left for everything eles. there goes your 700 watts.

  15. same here... you have electrical covered for sure? not being a dick but i feel like by asking that question your not going to know what kind of electrical to have for a 5k...
  16. maybe a misprint on the sticker on the outside. if it is a sticker..i cant remember lol
  17. Yea we have discussed the new lvl5's as being a good option as well.... I've got 3300ish per sub so I knew I'd start running into problems its all good tho damn.. lol i was hoping to get close to 3500 rms on my m1 xls. but if your tearing them apart on 3300 i dont think i wanna go that much haha. i cant afford new stuff all the time EDIT: my xls have the 5 med 1 stiff spider pack. but since your not failing at the triple joint im kind of uneasy about putting that much power and congrats on the score! thats LOUD AS FUCK
  18. i know. but with shipping it all came out to 262 lol i was like um ok. i dont really purchase off websites anymore
  19. brother was searching around on the internet for sundown stuff and rolled across this (removed the link due to LOWZ comment. ) i looked around and everything seemed pretty legitimate to me. so i was plannig on buying this. then got a confirmation email so i could enter payment info and was having trouble. so i did a search on reviews and found it to be a scam. im glad i did that search but heres something for yall so you dont get screwed. just in case the payment part would have worked for you
  20. that battery alone wont support 3000 watts. do you have an upgraded alt? I don't have a stock alternator. I'm going to be getting a Mechman alternator in a month. oh okay
  21. that battery alone wont support 3000 watts. do you have an upgraded alt?
  22. save up a tad more and get a D3100.. just throw it in the back just relocating your front battery to the back but using a bigger battery.
