  1. If the sub is D2ohm, just series the coils and run the amp bridged. That will give you the 800w. Just set your gain according to how much power you need. You can tune it with the bass boost all way up, just make sure you tune it to the bass boost frequency. It will be loudest around the bass boost frequency and not so loud everywhere else. Not the best way to do it, but sounds like you are stuck that way.
  2. Sounds like a ground issue somewhere. Set your HU to flat, set your EQ, then your amps.
  3. Anyone going to be near Ebensee, Austria from about June 29-July 14?
  4. Bingo. You go from 420 watts to 500 watts, which is 20 watts a channel. 20 watts a channel is not worth losing balance capabilities.
  5. Not sure what you mean by running a speaker at a certain ohm. A 4 ohm speaker will always be a 4 ohm speaker, you can't "run" it at anything else.
  6. Yes, and that would be the correct way to do it.
  7. Mine is done, except for switching subs. I will use the same box for both subs, just going to port the current box for the new sub. There is a link in my sig if you want to check what I have done so far.
  8. Not too different from what I am doing (JL 12 W0 and a stock HU). I am happy with mine, $100 for a sub I can make my roof bounce a bit. However, this summer I am upping my game a bit and switching to a DC level 2 and going to port the box. I am expecting a decent increase in output (nothing drastic) and am very excited plus nobody can make fun of me for JL!!! Also, sounds and looks nice for a first system, well done!
  9. On a side note, I have noticed that lots of my iTunes purchased songs seem to sound like shit. Anyone else notice this?
  10. They are D4 ohm right? If so, run everything in parallel which gives you 1 ohm, which is what you want.
  11. THis this this this and this. (what is that like x50) My roommate used Nutrisystem and it worked, but it is like bit sized food and terrible. I tried some of it and it is gross. I was on the Memphis biggest loser competition and this was almost nearly exactly the same diet they had me on. Do this, do cardio (real cardio not easy shit) and you will drop pounds fast. Leave out at all costs these things: soft drinks, soft drinks, and soft drinks. All soft drinks. You won't drink too much water so dont worry about it.
  12. You have to set your amps gain to match the 2v signal from your head unit. Using the bass boost will change the output of the amp. You can use the bass boost if you adjust your gain with the bass boost all the way up. The downside to doing it this way is you have a HUGE boost in frequencies around whatever frequency is boosted and all other frequencies are much quieter. Most of the time it is easiest and best to just keep bass boost down and use the gain only.
  13. True, some don't and some do. I can only go by what I see at the school I teach and by and large teachers do care, and care deeply. Being in Memphis, we deal with TONS of poverty and kids with very little parenting at home. Teachers (here) are very involved in not only what goes on with the kids at school but also at home. You are spot on about one on one time however, but that is a product of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Everything we do during the whole school year is based solely on the results of a single test (4 parts over 4 days). The results of this test can shut down schools, and has done so in the past. As a result of this NCLB policy, students are taught less and less about how to learn. If you don't believe me just glance at this forum. How many people ask questions that are easy to find solutions too? The teaching now is very specific, specific skills that match what is on the test. No student learns the how or why any longer, it's just do. We tell them that 4+4=8, but they have no idea what that means. (that is an extreme example but you get the idea). Students spend mandatory amounts of time (90 mins a week for one program)on computer programs that give them the answers after a certain amount of tires. Our school system mandates that classrooms are divided into stations (reading, writing, computer, etc....) and that students rotate in groups to use those stations. It is easy to say that teachers don't care and there are certainly those who don't (probably too many) but it is so easy to overlook what programs (NCLB for example) are doing to our public school systems. Oh by the way, under NCLB a school is required to maintain a certain proficiency level every year. The catch is, every 3 (or 5 I forget) years that level goes up, eventually reaching 100%. I think right now it is about 85% or so. In other words, eventually, every student will be required to be proficient in everything on the test. If a single student isn't proficient, that school is considered a failing school. If a school has a failing status for 3 years, it is shut down. Parents in the area are then given a couple choices, one being they can send their kid to a school out of their district, the other will be a voucher system for voucher schools. You can look up voucher schools to see what those are. You would be surprised at what kids want. Most of my students crave 1 on 1 time. It is possible considering the demographics in the area that where I am is an exception.
  14. I will let you in on a secret, no teacher does it for the money, it doesn't pay much. Public school are going to hell but it isn't the teachers (well mostly, there are some TERRIBLE teachers out there). I teach in an elementary school in Memphis and I can promise you that teachers DO in fact care for the students. The problem lies not with the teachers but with No Child Left Behind.
  15. Why do you have to keep the frame ground? (I am asking not arguing) In theory, couldn't you run all grounds to the battery (or Alt)?
  16. 1. You need a fuse near the battery so you need to keep one there. It may not be the original fuse if you are adding another amp as the fuse may not be big enough for the 2 amps. Whatever you do, keep a fuse near your battery. 2. I think you are asking if you can use a speaker wire for the remote wire. If so then yes it will work. 3. Yes.
  17. Are you asking if it is normal for the voltage to go up when you crank the bass knob up? If so then yes.
  18. Series the coils to get a 4 ohm load, bridge the amp. D2 ohm wiring diagram Edit: There is no way to run a single coil in that setup without messing something up. The 4ohm bridged output of that amp is the most power you can safely get out of the amp. Wiring the coils in a series is the best way to hook it up.
  19. I am sure I am wrong about this, but it is relevant so maybe someone can help clear this up for me. Is ground the best word (technically speaking) to use for the (-) side of a car's electrical system? In a house doesn't the ground refer to an actual wire that runs in the ground, meaning the ground isn't a part of the circuit? In a car the (+) and (-) make a circuit all returning to the battery in the end. So the (-) terminal on the battery is ultimately the common negative (ground) point, not the chassis or frame. You want the shortest possible path to be between the equipment and the battery. If you use the chassis or frame, you want a very short wire to connect said equipment to the chassis/frame as the electricity has to find it's own path through the chassis/frame, why add lots of extra length between equipment and chassis. If you run a (-) wire from equipment to the battery you select not only the path, but the length the electricity follows. The upside to using the frame is no extra wires to run, down side being it may be more difficult to get a good negative connection (ground). That is my understanding, please help if I am wrong. Edit: I just noticed that I said the battery is the common negative, but I meant alternator.
  20. I think he meant a prefab box for 2 12s, hence the duel wording. Not a box made by Duel.
  21. That's only if you are using the chasis or frame for a ground. In theory, every wire should be as short as possible.
