If u actually set gains correctly, don't grossly over power the woofer, install in a proper enclosure, and aren't stupid with the volume knob then there is no reason to worry about recones. My buddy is still running my old 15" HD3 that is over 3 years old and was run w/ 3x rated power daily. It has been given at least 2.5x rated for the entire time that I've had it and is still on the original softparts. Unless you're planning on running the woofers extremely hard and think that you might blow them, then you really shouldn't worry bout the woofer having a recone. Also it's not like a brand new L7 is all that expensive either.

Literally in 4 hours u posted "any input on the amp" 5 times... Dude u gotta give people time to look and answer your questions if they have any input on it. If not they aparently no one has used or installed one or even heard an install with that amp in it Also what model amp do u actually have?? All you said is that it's a DHD amp.

I was thinking the same thing and the only amps that that do that much power off the top of my head are very pricey.. For some reason I have sort of an inkling that the OP is running some sort of grossly overrated Kole amp of some sort or similar brand. Maybe the OP, being a self proclaimed noob thinks that running like 300w to a woofer like this is "super loud" like another member on this site. Who the hell knows and all we really have is speculation until the OP says what amp he's running.

Doing the big 3 doesn't take up much time if u know what you're doing/looking for, and as long as everything is fairly accessable. Honestly you could easily do it yourself by reading through as many tutorials and walkthroughs as you can. Eventually gonna want to learn some day, especially if u wanna keep going into bigger builds for the future. Truthfully any mechanic could also do the big 3, as long as u had the proper wiring and accessories to do so(a couple lugs + 3-5ft of 1/0ga wire). Do not mix wet cell + dry cell batteries together, so your first thing would be to upgrade the battery underhood with the biggest that will fit and you can afford. Compare batt companies, ratings, and price to determine which route you're gonna take in that department. Civic's charging systems are notoriously weak but by doing the big 3 and getting a decent size under hood batt you should see a bit of a difference with dimming. It may not be 100% solved but it will be a good amount better with handling the amperage.

Seems pretty small even for a single 10.. Also what kind of wood is that?? and where are u gonna be running the speaker wire?? Doesn't look as if u drilled any holes for a terminal cup or even for a small hole just to run the wires through. Also for another 2-3 dollars or so you could have bought sum sealant to make sure that it would be all air tight.

I agree with the others who posted so far... If the guys who is doing all your installs doesn't have the ability to do a big 3 upgrade, then I wouldn't allow him to touch anything else on your vehicle. Also use the money u were gonna spend on a cap and buy a small batt like a Kinetik 800 or similar for the time being.

Great choice in woofers and they are absolute beasts for 8s... Did a build w/ 3 of them off a Hifonics Herc in an 01 Eclipse and it was doing a 143 bassrace and burping in the high 145s.

Amp rack Build?
Marlo Stanfield replied to TeejayBee's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Sounds a little odd but just do a mock up tomorrow and before u put it in place definitely post sum pics. Also how are the bottom pieces going to be anchored to the floor?? -
Aparently you haven't done any builds on that body style 4dr Blazer then... Both IMO are right on par with each other with how easy they are to get loud. They are the 2 easiest SUVs around to get loud and I doubt anyone would object to that statement. Only advantage that the Exploder has is more cargo room than the blazer does. Like i said before we have 2 different Expos that have over 120K on them and have never had any issues at all. Where as my brother has his Blazer's tranny shit the bed on him right around 100k miles, which is pretty pathetic and seems to be a very common problem with that bodied blazers.

Amp rack Build?

As long as it is properly supported underneath and the MDF is anchored to the 2x4s(or whatever u end up using) then you shouldn't have any issues. -

You worded this terribly and I really can't understand exactly what you're asking... Also curious why this is in the off topic section. -

2 Northstar NSB-90 or NSB-125s would be perfect... With that amp and a stock alt I'd run at least 2 big batts in back until u can upgrade the alt. -
How much power?? There are a bunch out there that a pretty solid 8" woofers. DD 1508 8" TC 1000 8" SS RL-i Sundown E8 + SA-8 Kicker L7 8 JL W7 8 RE 8 Tangband 8

I got a good LOL by reading this thread... The number(1728) is part of the equation regardless of wood size, 1728 comes from a cubic foot(ft3) 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728.
