I want to say, that it could be that your prefab box is not close enough to the specs of your sub. And that you can have alot of success, if you build box threw the specs of your sub. And there a vew of subboxconstruction what you can build bandpass 4th order or 6th order and so on. Some of those constructions are known for better SQ, but for this you have to ask, that idk what directly best/better box for SQ or SQL. And its cheaper to build a box, than to buy a new sub. Think for a single 15 you have to pay 60 $ + your work.

Really? never heard of them.. Sure, 20 years ago you had to choose between subs for free air or for enclosures, long time ago, noone have today a freeairsub. My first sub was a JBL T 150 free air.

Could be that those old subs are free air subs, and thats the reason that they sound shitty in a box

Or sell both SPL amps and buy a Crecsendo BC 3500 its 599,99 if im right.

Don't even think about doing this unless you know what your doing with tuning amps. If one is pushing more power than the other then one of the voice coils is going to be working harder than the other one which will cause them to die a lot sooner than they should. Get an amp that pushes out 2000-2500 wrms at 2 ohms. (unless you have the electrical to back up .5 which i doubt you do) What for amps, brand?´Maby you can strap the amps.

This, and try it with a selfbuilded subbox threw the specs of your sub, the CVX initself is no bad sub!

Would you suggest to get a Sundown amp or the Audioque AQ1200? At first i would ask Sundown for the dampingfactor ot there amps if them equal (the AQ 1200 have dampingfoctor lower than 150, the only what it says under 150 not the real umber) I would buy Sundown looks a little more amp and Sundown support this forum.

My budget is about $500. I listen to a lot of electronic music (dubstep, house) and rap. It doesn't have to be Rockford Fosgate, it can be anything. I was thinking of just getting one 12" though. I am open to all ideas. edit: I'd prefer quality bass, but who doesn't like to shake buildings around you sometime? Also, the sub is $200 on ebay.
