They do not need a hazard sticker, because they are not hazardous. They are non-hazardous, non-spillable, sealed AGM batteries. If you are dealing with the USPS sometimes you have to break it down Barny style and just tell them it is a "power cell". They have no clue what that is and will just send it on through with no problems. This is a prime example of why the USPS is a money pit that keeps losing money every year just to be bailed out by the government and tax dollars. They try to come up with reasons that they can't ship your package and finally make it so painful to ship through them that everyone just goes to FedEx or UPS. With APO shipments you have to deal with them though, and is the main reason businesses will not ship to APOs any more.

Although a lot of people do it I wouldn't charge in the 15V range. 14.4V max for daily use and you can bump up to 14.9V for competitions. The higher you charge at the more likely you are to hurt the battery and cut down on the life of the battery. Either of the 2 will work, and as said above the 3400 will save you some $$$$. The 2400 will give you a little more reserve since it is just a little bigger.

Before the question even comes up.................NO it is not relabled (insert company name here) cable. That would have been easier and cheaper for us to do, but that is not the route we decided on. No it is not cheap cable, so please do not try to compare it to cheap cable. Yeah we have seen some big gains from guys going to the 14V set ups. How much did you gain? Most do not think to keep the hood cracked open and do not think about the added heat.

I do not suggest mixing the batteries together, because they are made up of different chemistry and design. In the short term you would be fine, but over time you may see some issues.

The battery is fine. I would just put the heat shield around it when you get a chance. If anything else comes up just give me a call. One thing to keep in mind is if you are going to be doing a lot of demos or going to be doing demos at all you can just leave the hood cracked and it will help let the heat out of the engine bay.

The battery is fine. I can not tell from the picture how swollen it is, but the way the case is made on the 1400s they will have a little bulge right off the production line. The way the case is reinforced on the sides it kind of sticks out a little in the middle (about a 1/4"). It is always good to put a heat deflector around it if it is under the hood though. There is a company called DEI that makes a battery blanket product that helps to keep the heat away from the battery. If you are doing demos for long periods of time with the hood closed there is a tremendous amount of heat that builds up under the hood. What voltage are you charging at?

You would be good for daily use, but I personally would run 3 D3100 in the back at least for competition use. You are going to be pulling more than the alt can produce, so you will be pulling straight from the batteries while doing demos and comps. I like to have a lot of reserve, so the voltage will stay up and not make the amp work so hard. That is pretty good for the batteries hooked up in the car. I will say though you will extend the life of your batteries if you charge at least once a month with a good charger.

Have you checked to see if the two alts hooked to factory wiring are actually working? What did you have the VCM set to when it was reading 15.4?

Guessing that was with no load on the alts? Was the 15.4 alt in the stock location and the other two in the secondary positions?

D2400 fits in the stock location, but the terminals are on the opposite sides. Just have to extend the cables.

Yes, they are a little lighter than the D3100s.

YES, they are designed for exactly this type of use and with them being AGM sealed batteries you do not have to worry about them leaking and causing damage to the boat hull.

If you are trying to cut weight, then I would go with a S375. Only 12lbs and enough power to start a 12V diesel truck! 510 hold down makes it easy to fit the smaller battery in there and keep it secure.

D3400 will fit in stock location. Ibar kit 551 or 555 if you are still running side posts. This should answer the other part of your question.

Yes, the batteries are made with the same chemistry, but are just designed differently. So, yes you can run the D3400 upfront and the XP in the back.

awesome, so they are for like rear batteries, or ones that will be away from heat Yes, they are not designed for being under the hood in a cranking application. Only designed for supplemental power with high capacity in mind.
