  1. try running a ground from your head unit all the way back to where your amp grounds.
  2. i might have one i'm willing to part with.. 1 yr old.. typical wear and scratched on the back.. no dents or anything like that.. jailbroken...2nd gen. make me an offer?
  3. if you parallel all of the components together...1 ohm. if you parallel the channels together (i.e. the left speakers and the right) 2 sets of 2 ohm. is that what you were looking for?
  4. maybe when you weren't watching.. someone bass boosted a bunch of songs in Audacity and played them on your system and killed it.
  5. god damn man car audio brings out the haters lol
  6. seriously.. keep us updated... i need to learn these things as well
  7. same thing happens on my bonneville with my sense wire mod on my alt. i'm always at 15.6v when it's cold.... it was -2 degrees F here and i hit 16v (once).. i was pretty excited to play my system .. then i realized.. i can't bump in 0 degree weather. and of course by the time the woofers are warmed up and the car is warmed up so i can play.. back down to 14.8v again..
  8. well didn't i just get taught and in my post i mixed up the words smaller and bigger. i guess my Adderal is wearing off. and i didn't know it was wrong. i was actually misinformed. i just had a feeling i was wrong. box design isn't my thing. and so .. OP.. sorry ... and ... i'm done being off topic and being in this thread.. made a fool of myself enough already...
  9. do we have a ranger buildthread somewhere? or maybe someone else has a link to another forum?
  10. my buddy has a ranger.. there is literally NO room. just nothing. he wanted to put a sub in his truck.. i told him it might be able to draw a picture of a woofer cone and tape it back there. maybe.
  11. i think we all agree RE makes a good woofer
  12. okay fine!!! i have no idea what i'm talking about. damnit you two!!
  13. i've heard great things about birch but it has to be that exact kind ^^^ i believe and yeah, it's way lighter. which is huge when you're trying to put a 12cube box in the back of a Suburban by yourself
  14. impedence rise is from the voice coil heating up as well... it occurs over time... and i thought a bigger box has more power handling because the woofer needs to move more air out of the port. same reason bigger box with same port length as a smaller box is tuned higher idk.. someone will post on this thread and they will know for sure just wait.. they'll quote me and be like, "this is wrong"
  15. i'm picking up highs lows and fogs from ddm, my buddy just got all three for his 07 tiburon.. perfect.. easy install too... and lifetime warranty.. can't beat that.
  16. well even if it's at 3 cubes.. it's still sealed.. so i'd be pretty damn to hurt it. then again..it is a pyramid... haha just kidding bro i'd do 2 cubes and call it a day
  17. sounds good .. but when you build it.. before any finishing touches.. (body filler carpet etc etc..) throw the sub in and see how it sounds .. make sure you play music with a big bass frequency range... like 25Hz - 60Hz.. if it's good, you're golden.. if it isn't...well at least you wern't way into the build before you noticed. just a tip
  18. so you're stepping down or up in power? assuming up.. what effect would that have on your box needing to be smaller? that would raise the tuning frequency ... assuming you keep the port length the same. and the SMD woofers are huge.. so they naturally make your box a little smaller.. less air volume...
  19. yeah, if you have a good box.. plus you have a woofer that's actually called sex
  20. i meant in a truck. lol. i've seen lots of prefab boxes for cars though that are subs back port up but thanks, sam.
