  1. define soon though...some of us cant afford to buy things often. I know if/when i get an Xcon or Zcon, ill be running i off my BRZ until i can afford a better amp. No im just like you i cant afford to change amps often. All of my amps were bang for buck like my hifonics, audiopipe, and audioque. Your brz is cool as long as you are powering the sub correctly and maximizing it with your power and box. The op is the one i hope doesnt think he has a 2500 rms amp.
  2. Yeah thats why im saying if he is going to upgrade to 2500rms really soon, then go for that type of sub. But if not to me it makes no sense with that amp.
  3. All im saying is that he has 1000rms on tap with that amp at 1 ohm so why not go for something like a sundown sa 15 and get the max out of it. Even a kicker L7, cvx, audioque sdc2.5 or hdc. Many cheaper options. Box is most important and setting amp right (his mojo burned)
  4. Just hope that the op does not think that amp does what it says it does. Because at that wattage get something more efficient in that range. mayhem is a beast and can take more than the 2500rms so putting a 1000rms amp on it makes no sense unless he will upgrade in the future.
  5. If your running that soundstorm then you need a sub more like in the 1200rms area where that amp truly does at 1 ohm.
  6. I really like this pioneer but also the ppi phantom 900 class d but its tough finding them when i tried.
  7. The cvr 12 i found usually in the $75 range. They are still under $100 for sure.
  8. Yeah around here theres only 309 so that sucks. I guess for budget right now its still tough to beat the kicker cvr 12.
  9. What subs then do you recommend in that price range that get loud and still sound good? This helps me when helping people with lower budgets, which is much more common than with money.
  10. Contact drcinc for advice he has a cava
  11. Those cavaliers get loud no matter what. A friend had a L7 in a shitty prefab sealed and you could hear him from far coming. He had it facing the rear and i think he even stood it up sub facing up and it was loud every way. Cant go wrong sub and port facing the rear.
  12. Curious what box you recommend. These are very inexpensive subs and if they also get loud in the kicker cvr or better range for cheap, i can recommend them to people around me. Heard a pair of twelves in a sealed box on 600rms and it was pretty loud in a older pontiac grand am, but maybe that was because he had pulled down his backseats and pointed the subs in to the cabin, or these subs just pound. Their db sensitivity is like 96db or something i wonder if thats true.
  13. Its all about matchups and sonnen just matches up well with silva. Something not really common to silva, a threat.
  14. Silva is no where near overrated but i tell you what sonnen frustrates the hell out of him. This fight was bullshit and i still want to see 1 more. Sonnen definitely has the potential to beat em.
  15. Also did an alpine setup with the sub level all the way up and an eq that was preamping the rcas like at 7v or something (clarioneqs746). The amp when i went to set the gains sounded best with the gain at zero. This was a little weird since the sub was pounding hard and the amp was at 0 which probably meant that the amp was already reaching its potential with gain at 0! Got me thinking, what if i lowered the alpines sub level to 10 and then raised the gain on the amp, would that have made a difference in sound? Will test this but as of now its pounding well.
  16. If you look at this sub in other pictures they share similar looks to some good subs out there. If any one is an expert on subs and their parts can you identify what model sub this is identical to. Im sure many subs out there share similar designs to others with only difference being the name on the front.
  17. Even then i have many other class d amps and this one puts out steady power so i wouldnt call it inefficient. The class a/b vs class d thing is not as simple as it may seem many other factors are involved in relation to the percentages you read about. This amp consistenly slams, doesnt hog current, and its well made.
  18. Interesting looking subs i found looking around. These look to be built similar to some subs ive seen before just cant remember. Anyone? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_25703_Ground_Shaker_GS1-12.aspx
  19. I really REALLY recommend more sub volume for each W7. W7 recommends that low of volume so people can have smaller boxes and also to protect the subs power handling better. I did a box for two 12 w7 giving each 3 cubes and tuned to 35hz. It slammed the lows and to this day still the best sounding subs i have heard. Point is w7's can handle big boxes very well we had them at 2400rms on that box and it took it like nothing. At least do 2.5 cubes net each and you will see why when you hear how great it sounds.
  20. Its very efficient to my ear and with my voltage. Does put out its power and as far as sound it sounds not much different than my AP but i definitely like the tuning knobs on this amp and crossover a lot better. Will change up my kicker subs soon so that should make more of a difference in the sub sound im getting which right now is good but getting bored and want to try another brand.
  21. Its a class a/b i think and im not sure when it was made but it was more than 6 years ago lol. I think it might be over 9 years old after googling a bit.
  22. Yup thats an hour meter and what it reads sounds crazy. It reads 51xxx hours which is quite a bit of years.
  23. Interested if anybody has more info on this topic about port area and how its best to be chosen in relation to tuning and other things.
  24. Second this. But i think with batteries the warranty is the biggest thing in same class batteries so get the one with the best warranty.
  25. Here goest some guts. Any info or experience on this amplifier will be appreciated. Swapped it out with my audiopipe 1500d to test at a 4 ohm mono bridged on two kicker cvx 15's and it hits great. 500 Watts x 2 @ 4 ohms Stereo 800 Watts x 2 @ 2 ohms Stereo 1500 Watts x 1 @ 4 ohms Mono Dimensions: (W x H x L) 8 1/4" x 2 5/8" x 21 1/4" Hour Meter Remote Mount Digital Voltmeter(included) Heavy Duty One-piece Extruded Aluminum Heat Sink Beveled Clear Acrylic Protective Cover Tiffany-Style Input and Output RCA Jacks Parallel Line-out RCA Jacks MOSFET High Speed Switching Power Supply Milspec Double-Sided Glass Epoxy Circuit Board with Through-hole Plating Heavy 4 oz.
