Getting ready to upgrade my current audiopipe 1500 to something like an ap 3000d or a hifonics brz2400.1, open to any other amp suggestions under $400 but have to be 2400rms or better. Problem is my highs are lacking now even with my two 15 cvx ported on 1500rms total. I am running diamond audio hex 6.5 components and only have a front stage so a total of two tweeters and two 6.5 mids and the crossovers. Im dead set on selling my components since these are the model hex that had problems with the mids having NO MIDBASS and the tweets being super harsh. Question is since i have a cerwin vega exl 400.4 that puts out 60 rms x 4 at 4 ohms and like 120 rms x 4 at 2 ohms, i need to know what components i should get that are reputably very loud and nice sounding but mainly very loud highs, i dont care much about having great midbass since i cross my subs pretty high at around 100hz, i rather my highs be very loud enough to handle the ap 3000 rms amp. Also i might be able to upgrade my amp to say 150 rms per channel 4 ohms. Thanks budget is around $200 no more.

Are there any other subs out there within $450 a pair i should be looking at that work optimally at 3.5 cubes net each? Is 16 inches of port area too much for the sundown sa 15's?

Have a custom 7.25 net box tuned at 34hz for 2 15 subs. Had two Kicker cvx 15 and an audiopipe 1500rms on it and although it got loud it lacked on the lows a little thinking most likely because it was a little on the small side (3.5cubes each). Im sending those back and have a budget of $400 so two sundown subs sa 15 was what i was researching. Problem is i do not have any experience at all with sundown so i do not know if my box is at the optimum end of their requirements, sent them an email but they did not reply. My box has a lot of port area like 16 inches per cube so im a little worried that it might be too much even though i have no idea if its really that big of a deal. My hope is to be louder on the same power with the sundowns compared to the cvx all while sounding better and hitting lows better. Any help?

Yeah me neither i try to make up for it using caulk or silicone to completely seal the inside of the box and luquid nails to bond the wood since its thick and covers my not so perfect cuts.

Thats a lot of money when you will at most use only 2 sheets of mdf if that. Glue and all of that will not past $20. Get a design from ram designs then build it, the toughest part is getting it cut straight so thats nothing.

If 10 cubes is net like taking in to account sub and port displacement, then if fosgate recommends 2.6 youll be at 2.5 so your good with that. Tune from 33-35hz as well. Send an email to fosgate they will answer within a day and tell them what they recommend for your car and what you listen to me before you do anything else that will help a lot more.

Corridos sound best on sealed thats mostly what i listen to and i had both ported and sealed, maybe it comes down to subs kickers hit with corridos in sealed. Youll be fine with the 4th sub on 1300 rms since the subs can handle 1000 rms you just have to set the gain properly. Tune low since you listen to corridos like at or below 35hz and it will bang. Look for kranny, torres, ram designs, or james he designed a box for me like 2 years ago it banged.

Its definitely a prefab probably tuned in the 40s you see them in Cali a lot. If you listen to rock and other types of music go sealed 1.6 cubes each if you just want loud lows and be hear even farther go 2.7 each ported tuned to 36hz. Id go ported just build it right even get somebody to design it for you and itll be loud. Im surprised those can take that amp their only 250rms each right? Never mind you have 4 ohm subs wired to 2.6 ohms probably doing around 900 watts.

That box is way too small to be ported. If you listen to a lot of corridos why not go sealed fosgate recommends 1.58 cubes each sealed and that box would be super easy to build seperate chambers for bracing.

Fosgate manual says they need 2.66 cubes each but that sounds small for a 15 but if thats what they say, id do it. You should do 2.6 cubes each and tune them to around 34-36hz depending on what you listen to. Or just call them or email them and they will help you out easily with a design.

The thd i heard was not even audible until you get to 5% or something like that and the s/n for amps is not a big deal. When i tested both they both had the exact same sound quality.

Ive had both on not so good electrical sometimes dropping to 11 and both performed well and did not get hot. I compared personally audioque 1200d and these other two and they all were within the same output with the audiopipe getting a slight nod ahead. For $150 an audiopipe 1500 cannot be beat just take the risk and you will not regret it ive had mine for almost 2 years still never gets hot and still pounds.

Go audiopipe ive had both hifonics and currently have the ap1500 and its slightly louder not much than my audioque 1200d so i say its rated. Never gets hot even after playing full tilt a lot. Hifonics was also a good amp so it boils down to cost.

3 Kicker cvx 15 in a big sealed box a little over 10 cubes so subs are seeing 3.3 cubes or so. They are very underpowered but still are very loud, by my Audiopipe 1500 seeing a 1.3 ohm load. Any tips or comments are appreciated.

Im planning on getting two audiopipe txx apx 15 inch subs in the near future since im trying to put a little more power in my suv so i might sell my two audioque sdc subs. My question is if anybody knows what is the optimum box volume and tuning that each of these subs need as well as port area if it is known. I am planning on starting with 1500 watts rms total for these two subs and maybe going to 2200-2500rms in the future. I want a box volume and tuning that will give me very LOUD bass as i am not in to SQ much since i come from kickers and audioque and i like how they sound as i listen to only rap and spanish with an epicenter. Any help?

Cool i thought about it before i posted though,lol. As far as getting different subs i wanted budget subs that would hit hard and i do not know of others that hit like this at this price range unless you can steer me in their direction. I also like the way these sound as i only want really loud subs that sound ok as well. I am thinking of going with three now and i most likely will be asking you soon if you can make me 3 sub box for me.

Yes James did this box and i hope you arent upset or anything about posting your design to have it commented on, i really meant no disrespect as im just trying to see if i can get it louder or if im better off adding another sub.

See if i go by what you are saying then i maxed out what i can do with these subs and i am therefore thinking of adding a third subwoofer if you are correct. Any one else get any other results?

I did like a couple of months back but i either got confused or i did not like the results as they were pretty off, which made me think who was wrong? If anyone else could try it please let me know what you get.

I am running two 15 Audioque sdc2.5 subs with an audiopipe 1500d at 1 ohm. Car is 2007 yukon third row out. I had box design i purchased from a good reputable dude on smd like 5 months ago and i built it as well soon after i bought it. I have been bumping it for a while now and it hits pretty well and i am now used to the bass to where i want to get it louder. My point in writing this post is to confirm that the specs such as tuning, air space, and port area are correct on this design i bought. So if they are i can just move on to different subs or maybe even buy another 15 sdc and build another box. But if they are not i want to build another box with a tuning around 37-40hz and with a lot of port area like in the 15-16 sq range. Please let me know what you guys come up with.

Also look in to an audioque sdc, it can take a little more than rated like 800 with clean power. Im sure its also a lot cheaper than the other options and it will be just as loud off the same power and sound good.

Not a fan either but some audiobahn amps are really good, such as the a1300hcq rated at 1200 rms, and when i tested it side by side with my audioque 1200d, the audiobahn was exactly as powerful so it might of even been underrated. Its the huge one with the big flames on top, really ugly but its powerful and sounds clean.

1500 is a lot that is how much i spent overall and maybe even less, its all about finding the deals and going with the brands that are quality at a lower cost. Ill private message you tommorow about some options.
