  1. I use a heavy duty crimper. I can take a pic tomorrow cause I'm not home right now but I did use wire loom. It melted it as well.
  2. I used the lug that was on the alternator. Just put a small washer between bolt and terminal.
  3. It's not touchin any ground. It does it on both ends. Don't kno where the cut came from but replaced it 3 times and it keeps doin the same thing. I don't have a fuse between it but now I think I should.
  4. Just wanting to know why this keeps happening to my alternator wire. It keeps frying the ends. It is 0 gauge knukoncept wire from battery to alternator. Stock alternator. On 05 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 Liter. Only have one amp on my highs so it's not draining the battery. Any suggestions?
  5. Im lookin for cheap batteries. Here's what im tryin to use them for if it helps. 4-18's Obsidian Audio D4's, 25.28 cu ft box tuned to 32hz. 2 Planet Audio BB2400.1 strapped at 2 ohms. 8 gauge speaker wire for subs and 0 gauge wire for power and ground. Big 3 upgrade and stock alternator for now. I know i should run like a XS battery but low on funds at the time. I can get the XS D3400 for $260 so im lookin for a battery that is close to it for less money.
  6. Is there any other kind of battery that can be used for car audio other than car audio batteries? Ive heard u can use marine batteries but dont kno how true that is. Oh and no optima batteries.
  7. I feel u on the ppl not knowing other brands other than big names. I tell ppl to try dc, audioque, fi, and they're like wut is that. Im not far from houston and man they sell everything almost dirt cheap but u got to remember that they buy in huge quanities and can get it for awhole lot cheaper than what others can. I am tryin to open my own shop too and there's plenty to learn. Im startin from my garage at home that way i have no extra expenses other than products. Best way is to start small. Unless u just got plenty of money to start with a big shop.
  8. I'll try it out but gotta order a new set and see wut happens.
  9. Damn its expensive. Especially for me that i wouldnt use it that often. No shows around here for DB's. Is there any other way of meterin it?
  10. Where can i get a termlab? Is it basically a software you can put on ur laptop with a mic? How much do they run?
  11. Around here nobody really gets a box built cuz they dont wanna pay the money and there isnt bit me and another guy around here thats knows how to tune them. Most everybody just buy prefab boxes. That wut the guy that had 6 12's had wuz a prefab box. My box for 2 15's wuz bigger. Its 12.64 cu ft tuned to 33 hz. Man does it got sum pressure.
  12. Yeah its only the passenger side that goes out. I ordered sum for a couple of friends and one has a tahoe like mine and another a chevy silverado. All roughly the same year and they always go out. Its gotta be a flaw in the vehicle.
  13. Yeah basically by ear...nobody around here has a termlab. No real big systems either. I went up against a guy wit 4 18's and a guy wit 6 12's. And got 2nd. Da guy wit 6 12's lacked box and power. It wuz basically a show setup not quality.
  14. I just ended up putting the stock lights bak on cuz a relay didnt work. Its only the right side that goes out. Got tired of fooling with them.
  15. I believe u have them wired at 1 ohm. U need dual 2 ohm subs for that amp cuz kicker amps are mostly 2 ohm stable.
  16. It all depends on how u set up everything. I have 1-12 solo baric L7 in a custom box and man did it hit. Of course i had it in a suv so the type of vehicle makes a difference.
  17. Those subs need 2.25 cubic feet of airspace per sub in a ported box.
  18. D4 and D2 is the ohm load. Dual 4ohm or Dual 2ohm. Prefabs are a no no.
  19. U say its a single cab so honestly there is no need for so many components. One good set would be more than enough.
  20. So many people think more is better. 2 subs in the correct airspace will sound better than 4 fighting for air. MO
  21. Im just lookin to get a good crisp sound out of some pretty cheap components.
