  1. I am putting a system in my truck and im not sure what kind of mids and highs to run. I want my system to be real loud yet sound really good. I have a MB Quart 800.4 which i will be using. I was thinking of getting two crescendo 6.5s and two bullet tweeters and running the mids on channels 1&2 and the tweets on 3&4 but that would leave me with no rear fill and im not familiar with the clarity of that kind of set-up. Please help me figure out what would be best for my application!!
  2. Hey guys I'm finally doing videos and updates of all the things I've been doing to my car over the last few years. I stumbled into the world of car audio a little over a year ago so im still learning. Its nice to have a community of intelligent people that I can bounce some ideas off. Let me know what you think! Teaser Video:
  3. Hi guys, so I've had this sub-woofer in my SUV for over a year now. The other day it started to make a crackling/static noise in the whole audio system. All the door and dash speakers are heavily effected, its only when the bass hits. When i go into the stereo settings and turn off the subwoofer everything works fine. I've completely rewired the system, everything has a clean connection. Any ideas? Or suggestions? Thank you in advance!
  4. i have 4 kenwood kfc 6x8s that are 80 wrms. what amp would be best to power them. I was thinking about getting the rockford t400-4 which is 60wrmsx4 but theyre very underrated and most get around 80wrmsx4+the power from the which is about 22wrms. would this be too much to power them with and how should i set the freq and other stuff on the amp? thanks EDIT: i also found a memphis audio srx 4.300 this looks a lot better
  5. Anybody ever heard of these guys? Supposed to be some Italian company, the guys down at my local audio shop just started carrying them. They're solidly priced and they sound great, heard a demo. Opinions, experiences?
  6. So I am wondering what the best budget pair of coaxial speakers are. And also my dodge ram 1500's front speakers are 6x9s... Should I stick with 6x9s or get something else?
  7. So i really want to have i nice loud and clean sounding set up in my 01 tahoe. Nothing record breaking or anything just loud and clean. I have two rockford p3 12s in the back and the rockford t365 component speakers in the front doors. Im not happy with the 365s at all. They are labeled "full range" and say they can go down to 30hz but thats crap. They are great with highs but cant handle mids at all. So iwas considering addingthe rockford punch 10" mid range speakers in each doir also. But when it comes to speakers im clueless. Should i invest in some good 3 way speakers like the focal k2 3 way system or will just adding a midrange speaker be fine?
  8. I have recently fallen upon a peavey puma-1502 amplifier. I am getting two big America RTR-1530's and I am wondering how I would hook these two speakers up to this amp. Do I need another piece of equipment to split th wattage to the two speakers? Rtr-1530 speakers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00009WBYI Peavey amp: http://aa.peavey.com/products/index.cfm/item/117683/UMA%201502
  9. Hey guys, noobie here. I need some help on this project I want to do. I want to have a oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, and a manifold vacuum gauge. My plan is to have 3 gauge pods on top of a single din spacer and Plexiglass, fabricated in the bezel. The single din spacer is where i can place and have my wires organized, and the Plexiglass is where I will be mounting the gauge pods on top of. Here are some pics of the bezel. Single din spacer taped to it. Here i have the gauge pods temporarily set on the single din spacer but its where the plexiglass will be. they are autometer angeled gauge rings #2234 that I bought. I was going to epoxy the single din spacer and plexiglass to the bezel, and epoxy the angled gauge pods to the Plexiglass, then cutting a hole in the plexiglass so the gauges can go in, but didnt know what to do about the empty gaps. Sorry for not uploading a pic of the plexiglass on top of the single din spacer, didnt have it cut out yet. My question is, how do I make the gauge pods one piece with the bezel? Is there some sort of filler to fill in those gaps and make it one piece? And if so what type of filler should I use? And what steps should I take If you guys have any suggestions or advice please tell me. Thanks.
  10. Hello, I need some opinions on if i should add rear speakers to my vehicle build or not! Currently getting, Avhx8500 head unit MLK2TW hertz Mille 6.5 components W6V3 in HO enclosure I get a insanely great price on the MLK2TW component set and looking at grabbing a set for the rears as well. The sub is going in the backseat facing the front of the car right behind the front seats, Still room for two passengers in the rear. My friend and i go out driving all the time and i dont want them to have no rear speakers if it will make a huge difference. If i grab rears they will all be run off a HD6004 and if i only get fronts it will be a slash300/4v3. Should i get rear speakers as well?
  11. the t5 RF 6.5" comps are MSRPed at $1700 why so freaking much. 150rms so im assuming 300rms for the pair. has anyone heard these in person? anyone actually own these?
  12. i just got a 2006 hyundai azera and the stereo needed to be replaced. i upgraded to a kenwood dpx792bh. its ounds great except there is a faint hissing static noise that plays all of the time. no matter what source its on, aux, usb, bt, radio, cd. even when its at 0 volume it has the noise. it doesnt increase in volume at all its just one constant hiss. i took it back to the best buy installer and he said it was unfixable, and probably a factory amp problem. i dont know much about car audio in general and wanted some second opinions. Thanks!
  13. Right now I am running a set of RF P1 6.5'' and a set of RF P1 5.25'' for my mids/highs in my doors. In the near future I am looking to putting something a bit better and using an amp to power them. For now it would just be one set of mids and one set of highs. Any recommendations? Looking to stay within a $150 budget for each set.

    Amp Help

I need help finding the best amp for my speaker set up. I have 2 sets of Oxygen audio O2 5.25 components (http://www.electronicsbonanza.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=17656&sku=O2-OC525) that run at 130 watts at 4ohm, and i am getting 2 crescendo pwx 6.5 (http://store.crescendoaudio.com/pwx-6-5-mid-range/) that run at 150 watts at 4ohm. I am putting two oxygen speakers and 1 pwx in each front door of my car. I am having trouble finding a good amp that wont break the bank. I would like to run active but its not necessary.
  15. My good friend Aaron, aka Psyph Morrison, has never had a real system in any of his cars before. If you don't know who Psyph is (pronounced Sife), look him up on itunes, spotify or any other music app out there. Youtube as well. I have known him over 10 years and even worked with him on his last 3 albums as an executive producer. Ok, now that is out of the way, the reason he is getting a system is because well, the entire time i have known him and worked with him making music, especially music with a lot of bass, he has never had a system of his own. I don't know anyone who has had more car issues than him so we really never made it to the discussion of a system. Not too long ago he picked up a 2002 Honda Accord 4 door. I knew right then he has a reliable vehicle finally. So i offered to slap some beat in it for him. Watching him pull up, slapping his own music in a (not so great) stock sound system was really bothering me. How can my boy ride around like that if he know's ME? Long story cut short...his car is at my shop for a few weeks while i figure out what i am going to do. I have NO "plans". I just want to get him some good equipment, set it up proper and make him happy! ****NOTE, anything you see here is subject to change as i am totally freestyling this. Trying to just make it work. First i stopped by Arden Audio in Sacramento Ca. They always have what i need in stock over there and if they don't i can get it same or next day. I decided to pick Psyph up a new head unit first and foremost. I also got the dash kit and wiring harness to go with it. Grabbed some SkyHigh 16ga OFC speaker wire to run to the doors. The system will consist of (so far) Pioneer DEH X7800 BHS Head Unit Rockford Fosgate Punch 1000.1 (BASS) Rockford Fosgate Punch 300.2 (Highs) (2) Rockford Fosgate P3 12" subs (ported enclosure) (1) Set Rockford Fosgate T2 6.5" separates SMD Fuse / Grounding Blocks Mechman 1/0 OFC Power Wire Skyhigh 12 and 16ga Speaker Wire I already had a P300.2 but i got him a matching 1000.1 to go with it. These P3 12" subs are not brand new but might as well be. They are in brand new condition! They are my old ones. This box was already finished and just hanging around the shop. I KNOW it sounds good so it should do great in his trunk! The trunk floor is at an angle so i have to make a platform and flatten it out some so the box sits level.
  16. I own a set of Polk Audio db1222's which peak at 1500w and i recently bought a Pioneer GM-D8601 amp which peaks at 1600w, so i guess my question is; by overpowering my subs by 100w and i going to kill them? Or can i set the gain down to get less power and be good
  17. Hey guys ill give you a bit of a run down of what happened. I have a set of Rockford Fosgate T2652-S speakers in my front doors in my ute. Randomly one cross overs died after about 10 months of use then another couple of months later the second cross over and a tweeter also died also. They just ran out of warranty and went to buy a new set but they are all sold out and almost double the price i paid for them. Dont get me wrong i run Rockford gear and love it to death but has put me to look for other brands. Being from Australia its hard to get decent speakers at a good price. Any to the good stuff what should i replace them with? I have been looking at the Soundstream tc6.5 what is half the price (By the time i inport them) and higher spec but cant find any reviews on them. Any ideas that wont cost a arm and a leg $300 and under would be best
  18. hey guys I just bought a 1993 mustang gt and only one speaker is working it has a old Kenwood deck with a built in cross over but none of it seems to be working the fader will not get the sound out of the working speaker but the deck fader will im no car audio expert and honestly have little knowledge in the matter but I am looking to replace all of the factory speakers and run them off of a older sony deck (only getting it because I am working on a budget) but I am wondering what the best speaker choice for the car would be. The car uses 5 3 1/2 in the dash 5 1/4 in the doors 6x8 in the rear I am wanting a matching set all the way around it doesn't have to be extremely loud especially since the cabin size is not very large but I do want the best sound quality I can get and have enough volume to work with a 15" woofer it was custom built using a dc audio level 3-4 as a base with new voice coil and stronger spider that I am wanting to power with a massive audio n3 so what speakers will give me the best bang for my buck im working with around $120 I would rather not spend over $150
  19. I have a question regarding how wattage is distributed between speakers. I understand that my amp, will supply 3000 watts at 2 Ohm bridged. And if I have two drivers 4 Ohm each connected in parallel, I will drop the Ohms to 2 in total. So my question is, If I have these connected to my amp in the said configuration, Will EACH driver get 3000 watts? or is the power evenly distributed say 1500 watts per driver? Thanks.
  20. i just got a 2006 hyundai azera and the stereo needed to be replaced. i upgraded to a kenwood dpx792bh. its ounds great except there is a faint hissing static noise that plays all of the time. no matter what source its on, aux, usb, bt, radio, cd. even when its at 0 volume it has the noise. it doesnt increase in volume at all its just one constant hiss. i took it back to the best buy installer and he said it was unfixable, and probably a factory amp problem. i dont know much about car audio in general and wanted some second opinions. 21. I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 that has about 260,000 miles on it. Before I replaced the alternator it was whining in the engine bay and through my speakers (JL Audio c2-650). After I replaced it with a dbelectrical 200amp alternator and did the big 3 with 0 gauge wiring. After I finished I started up the truck and it blew hot air through the a/c instead of cold air so I restarted it. After I did so the a/c fixed itself and I turned on my headunit (JVC Arsenal) and noticed I still had a bad whine coming through the speakers but not from the engine bay. About a month ago I noticed that my ground to my highs amp (Boston Acoustics gt-275) was a little loose so I tightened it down and put some lock-tite on the threads so it would not come loose. I re-checked the ground today and it was not loose at all, still tight. What could my problem be? Also where does everybody run their power wire and speaker wire in the truck to prevent having to overlap cables? My amp is located on the center hump in front of the cup holders.
  22. I have two amps in my car. one powers the door speakers (400 amp rms - rockford fosgate amp) and other power 12in subwoofer (750 amp rms - rockford fosgate amp). Both the amp is getting power through 4 gauge wire and grounded with 4 gauge wire. The door speakers work great, but the subwoofer hardly moves. I tried two different head units (stock & after market) and yet the sub hardly moves. The after market HU came with dedicated subwoofer output, while with the stock HU, i had to splice into front speakers wires to get signal for subwoofer. In both cases, the sub was weak with gain all the way high. The sub is getting signal, but its not moving the way a 12in should move. It only starts to move properly when i increase the bass boost & punch eq (i know this is not good). I went through some trouble shooting - making sure ground is securely attached, power etc etc. Yet, still can't figure out what is happening. I took it to a stereo shop and he agreed to diagnose for $65. But i've always had issues taking my car to shops and i'm wary of taking the car to the shop. What do you guys think is happening? Is there any one in chicago who might be able to take a look and help me out !!! Thanks,
  23. Hey guys, I need some help... I have a 2002 chevy 1500 ext cab and Im trying to build a high-end system in it. Im only 16, so its a big project for me... I got my truck last august for my birthday, and my parents bought me a HU, and some door speakers on a little amp. It was great, but I knew I wanted at least a single 12 in there. I went with 2 12's in a under-the-seat box. 2 alpine r 12's on 2 rockville rxd-m4's in a ground shaker box. It was cool, but I just kept wanting to upgrade, so I sold one of the amps, and put a sundown 1500D on both the subs at 0.5ohm. It rocked, and still does 2 months later. I want more... the 6.5's and the 4x6's dont keep up with the subs, and im upgrading the subs anyways, both my dad and uncle want sound systems in their cars, and im selling them each one of the 12's. Im deciding to go with 2 sundown x15's on 2 sundown 1500D's. Big money, i know...... Audio kinda sucks..... I have a box designed in sketchup for the subs. I realized that even with the 4 speakers ive got now, they dont really keep up as well as I want them too with the 12's, so I know they wont keep up with 2 15's on 2 times the power. I am keeping the door speakers ive got now, but im adding 4 crescendo pwx 6.5's, i found some kick panel replacements for my truck at an audio store that was closing near my house and got them for $30, what a steal, theyre like $200 everywhere online. So I want to move the alpine 6.5's into the kicks and put 2 PWX 6.5's in each door... Is this possible without too much modding? The little pods in the doors now house a 6.5 and a 1.5" (i think) tweet. Id LOVE if I could fit the 2 6.5's in that little pod without messing anything up or having to mod too much. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, Trey
  24. so i bought two sa15s, love love love sundown. i have them running off a saz2500. i have my electrical system all upgraded now so im moving on to my next step, my vocals and sound quality! now i wanted to get the new sundown neo pros but are they really worth the money? im in a battle between the neo pros and the crescendo pwx's. opinion on which is better? specs? i here both are amazing but i cant decided which i want. cosmetically i love the look of the pwx's, better than the neo pros, and i love their ft1 super tweeters(i really want those lol) but help me out! any suggestions or comment would be appreciated
