  1. Behringer Europower EP2500. It's rated at 1200 watts X 2 @ 4 ohms. In reality it's more like 1000 watts X 2 @ 4 ohms.
  2. Here is a link to a thread I started inquiring about the Russian meter, SPL-Labs. Clicky Linky The Russian meter will never replace the termlab. I see the Russian meter as an inexpensive tuning tool that's as accurate at the termlab. I'm off to a slow start, but pretty soon I'll have a SPL-Labs LCD Bass Meter in my hands. I'll post a review for all to see and critique. Questions and inquiries are welcome. Cheers
  3. The third slug was an option. I don't recall the specs changing when adding the third slug.
  4. I had a few of those as a kid. When they first came out all the little cars and truck had realistic paint jobs and were to scale. Those were my favorites. Later version had quirky paint jobs and looked all futuristic. Not my style. Good stuff.
  5. It's cool to see you make good on a bad situation. I was not so fortunate. My 86 Mustang Gt was considered totaled after a Subaru station wagon tagged me from behind. All I got was $800 and a, "you keep the car it's your problem," letter. Any who, good deal, the paint looks great.
  6. Good people and good tunes. If anybody can make it out please do. It's worth the trip.
  7. You also have to be in a wifi hot spot to use the ipod touch to make calls
  8. I read this. It looks promising. It's an app for iPhone to make calls over wifi without using your At&t minutes. Get this you can use it on your iPod touch. The first month is free. After that it's $15.99. The app is called Line2. Article on Line2 app Enjoy and vote Onebadmonte March 2010 SOTM
  9. Hello everybody. I know it's kinda weird what I'm asking, wanting big bass without the box and all. I wanted to throw this out there. Anyone interested in seeing this happen. You can help me out by casting a vote for me (onebadmonte) for March 2010 System of the Month (SOTM). A win here would get me very close to upgrading. Thanks everyone for taking a peek. Cheers Onebadmonte
  10. Congrats on the new digs. Looks like a classy joint with all those high-end banners hanging. Being Cali, what you really need is a Tiki Bar in the corner. Can't do any kicking back in Cali without a good ol' Tiki Bar.
  11. Here is a quick vid of the system in action. Let me know what you think.
  12. I've got a pair of 15" Ascendant Audio Atlas subs. I have them setup infinite baffle style in the trunk of my Oldsmobile. They're powered by a US Acoustics USB-4085 getting 240 watts to each sub per the manufactures rating. I am thinking about stepping up to a pair of 15" IB3 subs and a 1000 watt amp. Click here for details on my build Am I going to notice a significant difference?
  13. Today we begin retrofitting the Jensen CS-315 with an Ascendant Audio Avalanche 15" subwoofer for enhanced bass performance. Here we have a picture of the lame performer. Impressive 5/8" thick particle board construction Out with the old, in with the new. Dig that Chevy in the background. No, I wont help you move. The modification to the enclosure. Two 4" Aeroports 17" long. The cabinet is about 3.5ft^3, it tunes out to 28Hz. The finished product. Let me know what you think.
  14. Thanks, I wanted something different without breaking the bank and didn't require mad fabrication skillz. They sound great. Crisp and clear. I am lacking a bit of mid-bass. Having speakers mounted like that makes the bass roll off really fast. A wide baffle would help restore some of the bass. I trying something a little different. I semi-tightly wrapped the basket with a towel. A sort of make-shift aperiodic enclosure. I gained a little mid-bass back. My big problem is the cross-over setting of the receiver. I'm thinking it somewhere at 90Hz. That kind of kills the mid-bass. I'm not sure my camera will make a good video of these in action. The rated x-max is 3mm. Stay tuned for some Avalanche build pics. I reuse old Jensen floor-stander cabinets as a box. Recycling at it's best. Hehe!
  15. Here are some random pics of my home theater. Here is a listing of my setup. TV: Sony XBR9 52" LCD Reciever: Sony STR-DE675 yada yada yada circa 2001 Video: PS3 & Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD player L&R: Hawthorne Audio 15" Silver Iris Co-ax Open Baffle Speakers Subs: 2 Ascendant Audio Avalanche 15" each in a 3.5ft^3 box tuned to 28Hz Sub Amp: Behringer Europower EP2500 aprox 2000 watts rms Sub EQ: Behringer DSP-1124 setup via Room EQ Wizard software Game unit: Wii I'll start off with the front stage. I wanted something that would achieve night club levels yet still crisp and clear. Since I had the subs I know that they wouldn't have to be able to reach deep, they would just have to have good mid-bass. I was open to anything, but I had a budget. I wanted something DIY, but I know nothing about crossovers. After browsing the forums I came across a review on Hawthorne Audio's 15 Silver Iris. These are made my Eminence for Hawthorne, so there is some pro-audio lineage going on here. Normally on an open baffle speaker the baffle has to be wide enough to separate the front wave from the rear wave. I went a different route. I propped the thing up by the magnet. Anywho, here are some pics. Enjoy. The driver on stand The back side Up close and personal with the cross over In position. Note, these pics were taken before my living room re-do. A pic of the old system. Dig the wood paneling. Let me know what you think.
  16. How about some of these. They make a 10" and 12" version. Not to mention they offer matching passive radiators.
  17. Here is a vid of my Atlas IB style powered off an US Acoustics USB-4085, 240 watts to each sub. Check out my build here. Let me know what you think.
  18. Check under the hood. Is there a clutch on the alternator pulley, like the A/C compressor pulley. That is the only way they could get it to conserve fuel, buy not spinning the alternator armature. I see no reason why the charging system would be cycling on and off like that.
  19. Good stuff. Very useful. I'm glad I searched before I asked. Thanks
