  1. Send me an email to get back w/ you at the office -- [email protected] Link the thread as well so I know what is going on.
  2. On the SAE units they could stop producing output with all the lights working -- a connection has gotten loose internally. If it's still under warranty you can have it exchanged for an SAX-1200D for no charge -- if it is not under warranty you can use it as credit towards either the SAX-1200D or SAZ-1500D for a reasonable cost.
  3. We don't make an SAZ-1200D -- is this an SAE-1200D or SAX-1200D ?
  4. Video Caption : "Scheduled for release mid 2011. A while back we made a video of the 15" model to show what it can do -- the 18" model has even more excursion. In fact we bottomed out the prototype in the video which takes 38mm one-way travel =) For production the back plate will have an internal bump to bring that up to 52mm making it essentially impossible."
  5. We did the 15" a while back -- decided to video the 18" as well. These are going to start debuting in mid 2011 or so... likely a size or two at a time. 1500-watt RMS rated woofer -- you can see more information on the line here : Prototype Z v.3 Testing - Car Audio Classifieds
  6. We even put a shorting ring inside the magnet ID -- will give us a nice linear Le curve to go with the awesome suspension and healthy x-max -- nice low distortion driver all in all
  7. Estimated mounting depth is 6.83" currently... so it's a bit of a monster in physical size as well.
  8. They were done under different conditions -- all of the details are provided.
  9. I'll get to your email ASAP -- if you sent it over the weekend or on Friday I probably haven't seen it.
  10. It is on there several times if you look carefully at the rendering
  11. We work with a very talented designer to handle our CAD work
  12. After some long hours... the final driver design is completed: One cosmetic element that is experimental... vertical logo on magnet boot. Should we do that or the horizontal logos like we are doing now ? This is a HUGE motor... it is larger than the SA-10/12/15 motor. No joke
  13. We are finalizing some drawings right now... may even beef up the motor even more than we have been thinking about prior -- why not go crazy, huh ? More information to come soon -- hold onto your seats !
  14. A very strong paper cone -- it will have some ribs pressed into the back of it as well.
  15. Exactly as pictured. I have yet to measure an SPL difference between a wide and tall roll -- for the record -- not even 0.1 dB
  16. I plan for the frame to be black -- just not good to look at in the renderings.
  17. Motor will be very much like the SA-10,12,15 motor -- which is a larger motor than the SA-8 has.
  18. I don't plan for them to be ridiculously expensive (X-8 Ferrite) -- obviously it WILL cost a a good bit more than the SA-8 as every part is custom tooled and it's in another world in terms of performance... but I will use my same formula of my cost to customer cost so it's not going to be out of line with what people expect from us, IMO.
  19. I do not yet have any pricing or ETA estimates yet -- it is still just renderings and drawings. Once I get an idea of pricing I will let you guys know.
  20. I made a new thread specifically for the X-8 platform as the other thread was mainly for the frame and also discussed the NEO-8 (the NEO-8 platform will be worked on further once the X-8 is done and in production).
  21. Developing a 600-watt RMS 8" woofer with fully custom frame, cone, surround, spider, etc... Frame supports ~35mm one-way linear travel and the soft parts support that as well. Design is motor limited to 19mm linear one-way and 30mm before leaving the gap -- so it will be VERY difficult to reach mechanical limitations even by accident on SPL burps. The soft parts, frame, and so forth are VERY over-engineered to support any future motor designs I may desire to produce... meaning you may see a true high linear stroke "SQ" style design with these parts later on -- but first we are staying true to Sundown heritage and designing a super rugged "daily" woofer that will produce excellent SPL numbers as well. The frame by itself : The frame with cone, dust cap, and surround : The frame with cone, dust cap, surround, AND spider : Surround will be stitched to cone for further resistance to damage in extreme applications. Yes -- we will be eventually making this style driver in bigger sizes... the 8" is coming first as I really felt the NEED for better platforms as I've been severely limited with existing frames in this size.
  22. We do not stock spare heat-sinks -- sorry !
  23. Good stuff - glad you like it !
