  1. ok, starting the build in a few minutes. ill take some pics and post it up. Wont be installed till next weekend cause im trying to find some power wire and nobody local has much good stuff.
  2. Ok, so how's about 2 sealed, 6 ported tuned to 50 sound?
  3. ive been running it in about 7 feet ported to 30 on the same amps and its been working good in my nissan. amy port area ideas?
  4. I got a level 5 18" and just got a new suburban. Was going to try to do a 4th order box for it. My buddy is trying to help me design it. Hes saying to do 1.5 sealed and 4.5 ported to 40hz. Sounds a little small to me, what do you think? I got plenty of room. That was box he built for a 15 and it sounded good and he says it should work with that even though i got 18. Will be running 4000 watts to it. I was thinking 2 sealed and 6 ported but ive only messed with ported boxes. He likes 1 to 3 ratio and ive heard a few of the ones hes built and they seemed to do good. Just looking for a daily use box that can get loud.
  5. 1 level 5 18" on 2 crescendo bc2000 146@ 27 hz, 147@ 30, 150.3@ 44hz sealed on the dash
  6. I am planning on buying a 96-99 tahoe in the near future. I know its older but i like the square front end a little better plus i already have some parts for it. The big question is that i will be partially sharing it with the wife. Her main concern is that there still must be room for groceries. How deep can i make the box and still have some room in the back? I like 15's or bigger but that might not be an option. What about 12's? Can i go 4 wide pointing up with port to the back? I got an 18 in the nissan and will probably be keeping that car for a while but i gotta have some good bass in the daily driver. My other option would be to buy a suburban, then i would have some more room in the back to do 2 18's prolly and still have some room. I just like the tahoe cause its a little shorter and easier to manuever around.
  7. i got a removable port. The daily port peaked at 148.1@33 hz. I think ill leave that alone for now cause it sounds good to me. I put in the spl port i made and it peaked 150.3 at 44hz. I dont mind tweaking this port and ill prolly try to raise tuning on it and try to c what happens. There was a comp yeasterday and the guy running it let me take the meter and laptop home to mess around with it today. I did all tests with car running and sealed up with the meter same spot as they do at the shows
  8. The 45hz tone and higher started to drop off. Should I cut an inch or 2 off port to c if peak freq goes up and gets louder?
  9. 145.8@30 147.9@31 147.6@32 148.1@33 148.6@41 149@42 149.1@43 Then I sat on passenger seat... 149.8@43 150.3@44 ...sounds good to me for only 1 sub, 1 battery and stock alternator!
  10. Was playing a bass mechanic song. Must of played a song with too low of a frequency. Did a 145.9 @ 27hz. Ported box is tuned to about 35hz. It was moving a lot of air. I'm gonna put in my 45hz port tomorrow and try it again.
  11. Many years ago I had 2 15"vegas forward firing sealed off in an old buick century. It hit very hard for a daily driver setup. Got about 8 cubes out of it although box was built in the car. After that i had a maxima with 2 solobaric 15's sealed box forward firing. That box was only a little bigger than 3 cubes and went in easily. It can definately be done. Just find a sub that will work with the power u want to run and make sure it dont need a big box to perform right.
  12. As a previous owner of a 1994 Impala SS i think anything over 20's on that car look like turd. But thats my opinion, I liked my car lowered with less wheel gap. I'm a mechanic near the hood and ive driven a fair number of cars with wheels over 24" and every one of them drove like complete crap. Probably driven bout 15 caprices or crown vics with big wheels and they were all horrible. I can see the "just for show" part of it but definately not for a daily driver. IMO, wheels that big should only be on trucks. Ive driven a few trucks with 24's and 26's and they were not nearly as bad. The suspension and brakes could handle it a lot better. But as people stated earlier, its just an opinion and thats whats great about cars, you can modify them to suit your needs or your own individual taste.
  13. I am trying to sell my Audiocontrol EQL trunk mount equilizer. I have had it since new and it is in descent shape. It has a few light scratches but nothing major. Unit works perfectly and is currently installed in the car. I do not have the high level input connector but have never needed to use it since i always used rca inputs. $100
  14. I found this in a box of old stuff i had. I think it came from a factory system but im not sure anymore. Lets start at about $10 for shipping and make an offer from there if anybody might want this. I have no need for it and dont want to throw it away. Heres the connector that is on it:
  15. havent seen for car audio but i remember seeing a while back on their website where you could buy the replacement drivers. They were pretty cheap a few years ago.
  16. maybe trades, really looking for an amp to push my d1 level 5...
  17. Yes, the maf can make your trans mess up. We see it every few months. It can send wrong signal to computer and trans shift timing/feel can be off. Computer might think you going faster or slower cause air reading is not right. Truck might think you on full throttle when you arent so it might make trans shift too late or too early. Never seen one put the trans in limp though, just shifting and shift timing issues.
  18. That's kind of what I was thinking, plus the 1 amp is smaller than 2 and would be easier to wire.
  19. Im thinking of doing a crescendo amp for my level 5 18". Its got dual 1 ohm voicecoils. Should i do 2 of the bc2000 or 1 bc 3500? The bc2000 would be run at 1 ohm and the bc3500 would be at .5 ohm. Seems the pair of bc2000 would put out a bit more power for $30 more. Would this be better or should i just do the single 3500 amp?
  20. squeeze on the front and rear of that passenger side connector and it should come straight up
  21. Id go with the bilsteins. Gonna b better quality and ride than the others you suggested.
  22. the specs on the cone is just sawdust. Ill clean it off before shipment. Only damage is on dustcap but doesnt affect performance that i could tell
