So my friend bought 2 12" Kicker CVR's D2 about 3 months ago ran them for awhile off barely any power, then they sounded like there was a tapping noise (like almost like blown but they still bumped.) So I said probably tinsel leads or blown coil, take them out measure on the DMM read a perfect 2ohms each side. So I move the sub up and down free air and i feel no rub or anything, check the tinsel leads to the terminals no appearant slapping. I look through the air gap and the coils are bright copper. So we hook it up freeair it at RMS and we hair the noise sounds pretty bad freeaired not too bad in a box. What could it be and is it fixable? and what does forevrbmpn charge for his recones?

Mr.P speaks truth, what made you go with mechman? the changable voltage?
-
Maybe if you learned to read you'd see where I said: "Yes over exerting your woofer can easily cause a blown coil, chances are the Tinsel lead snapped or something" Yeah learn to read please.and playing lower frequencies where too much excursion happens can blow a subwoofer from eigther box being to small/big etc.

For future refernce the needle trick worked like a charm and was hella easy, thanks to annanomous on yahoo forums haha random spot to find good info :-p Sorry I was high and for some reason writing kneedle... >.< Anyways nah guy it stuck right in the center barely melted the plastic just enuff to grab on and it brought the plastic and metal piece out no problem, best method hands down you just need to be quick and careful, my amp is like new again. -

It's plastic tip man... not metal haha Its a cheapo wallyworld one that needed replacement broke off in the good, I havn't opened the amplifier to see if I can push it from the back I was hoping one of you have seen the inside of the 1500.1 AP so I didnt have to open it or if someone can confirm the kneedle trick. Like the whole RCA tip broke off but I can only see half tghe plastic in there I didnt see any metal from the shield I was really uh stoned when it happened so I cant rmember and its too dark to check ugh why does this happen to me? I tried digging at it with a knife and tapping it but nogo :-0/ -
Ok so I basically broke my new AP1500.1D because my cheap ass WALMART $20 RCA tip broke off inside the female RCA input. So I've heard bending the tip of a kneedle and heating it will pull the plastic out? I don't think I can get at it from behind unless someone knows for sure... Damn guys this is a bummer first my KX600.4 goes and now this :-/

I'd go with the AQ as well at that price, also checkout DB-R electronics for markdown sales etc.

AudioQue has a new SDC2.0 you can get two new 12's for $200+shipping. They are rated @ 250RMS but we all know an AQ woofer is underrated. Good SQ too. Two of these off 1000 or so watts with the right box/electrical would be loud. http://www.audioque.com/NEW-Street-Duty-SDC20-12-D4-Subwoofer-_p_70.html

I can but my amps are installed on the side of my jeep in the back taking up about 5 inches. So 41" would be cutting it EXTREMELY close, I have a 40" width box that almost touched the amps and scraped against one of them, i'd like to keep it below 40" width if at all possible. I dont think 41 will work. and also Yeah I was looking 6cft @ 32hz that was the sweet spot. But I wanted like 14-16sq inches of port per cft. Also I would like to keep SOME highs so I dont want to go below 32hz. but I dont want to be above 35hz.

You're trying to run 6000rms off of two batteries and a 200a alternator?!?! Your car will do 60-90amps just to run and then you need about 413amps to do the 6kw. That's 500amps! to run @ 14.5v stable (and id say about 2 batteries per amplifier) @ 12.5v you need 480a alone, If I were you save up for the 270xp from DC and get about 6 batteries or you're going to be in the same EXACT boat you're in. You'll run 1 3kw amplifier FINE but 2 will kill any voltage increase you gained.

40width / 30 depth / 20 height max dimensions 1st box : didn account for port area being 12-16 per sq ft sooo my tuning as like in the 40's. 2nd box : messed up 2nd baffle and has a gap between it losing tuning and air, so I need to rebuild IVe spent about $150 building these boxes and dont want to waste anymore money. I want this one to be perfect

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee running about 1500RMS to an 18" PSI subwoofer rated for 1600rms. @ 1ohm with some electrical drop. I'm looking for lows probably 32-33hz between 5-6cft (I will go 7 IF needed but would like to keep it smaller due to power) Revc = 3.1157 ohms Fms = 22.1886 Hz Zmax = 29.4964 ohms Qes = 0.5296 Qms = 4.4843 Qts = 0.4737 Le = 3.5576 mH (at 1 kHz) Diam = 393.7000 mm ( 15.5000 in ) Sd =121736.4743 mm^2(188.6919 in^2) Vas = 232.4022 L ( 8.2072 ft^3) BL = 19.5513 N/A Mms = 466.0655 g Cms = 110.3911 uM/N Kms = 9058.6992 N/M Rms = 14.4899 R mechanical Efficiency = 0.4504 % Sensitivity= 88.5543 dB @1W/1m Sensitivity= 92.6497 dB @2.83Vrms/1m TS SPECS, if anyone could help me with my enclosure i'd apprecaite it, i've build 2 boxes for this woofer os far and im unhappy with both. Nothing too fancy as I dont have the tools or skills for wood working.

Need A Amp

2-3k would be plenty on the bigger scale but why sacrifice about 1,000 rms of power just because he doesn't have the alternator to run it? either way he's going to need at least a 270amp alternator so why not go the mile and get 4kw, even 4k on good power is under powering, a level 5 can do a good 5k on 14.4v daily. So you're suggesting running HALF that (2.5k-3k)I don't like it >.<
