Alright I'll mock it up when I get home later today. Should I put a round brace between the rear port wall and the back wall of the box? I think in just gunna build the 2.5 box now that way I don't have to build two boxes. Would the 2.5ft^3 with 19sq" of port be alright with only 1700 rms?
-
It says 35.04hz 2.99ft^3 and 16.56in^2 of port area

Ok so like the title says this is fo a Z v.3 15. This will be my first box disigned and to be built myself. Please dont be harsh lol. However any help/adjustments would be greatly appreciated. If this box is a toatl bust my max dimensions are 32" w x 18" t x 16" d if you could suggest anything better. Thanks in advanced. SPECS: BOX: Again any help is greatly appreciated. EDIT: It will also be ran off a brz.1700 and an upgrade to a crescendo bc2000 when more funds come in. It's all going into a dodge charger.....If that helps.

I wasn't trying to make a vs thread just trying to get peoples opinions on what they prefer and there experiences. Like I said I've only had 12's and 10's. I think I may try the 15 just to try it out. Worst case I don't like it and I just get another 12 and sell the 15. I guess I wanna broaden my horizon. Lol. Again sorry for a vs thread should of left brands out of it. Also thanks for all the input and help.

I have a SA 12 currently in my 08 charger. I was thinking of getting another or I found a DC lvl 4 15 m1 w/ lvl 5 softparts for a decent price. I have never had a 15 so I really dont know how they sound and I would only be able to fit one in my trunk. I listen to mainly rap and rock almost 50/50. But I love my bass loud and low. lol. Either rought will be powerd by a BRZ1700. I know enclosure is one of the main factors, but any input would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

And that circle jig seems like a damn good deal. May have to pick one up. Been needin one for quite some time.

I've only had clamps from harbor but i do know the harbor here has a lifetime warranty on hand tools. Kinda like craftsman. As far as how long they last before you need the warranty........ idk. haha.
-
Nah. I got a few menards clamps of varying sizes and I have had them for quite sometime. I use them often on different types of projects. But for the price you cant beat em. lol.

When you say "double up" I'm assuming you mean buying another amplifier and another subwoofer? Ya add another lvl 4 and 1.2k in the future, If i did decide to go bigger.
-
IDK. I'm almost leaning towards the lvl 4 and 1.2k. Then if I do want more power I can just double up and strap the 1.2k's. Although now IDK if i want to stick with a 12 that i know i like or try something new and get a 15. lol. I may be going to a show this weekend so maybe I will try and listen to many.
-
mhm. I have heard a couple 15's before but they were 3 Alpine type R's in T-Line boxes. They sounded good but didn't hear them with rock. What would be the benefit of running 1 15 appose to 2 12's?

bump for more input.

Updates??????????????? -
Kinda, but I play allot of rock too and have never really heard a 15 play rock. I'm sure it can but how well would it do so?
-
Any more input? It would be much appreciated.
-
Because of sound? or just for more cone area? lol.

Ok I just sold my old system to try something different. I'm not try to start a "vs" thread, just opinions on each. I am thinking of either going with a dc lvl 4 12 on a dc 1.2k @ 1ohm with option to double up later on in future if need be...or....a Sundown SA 12 on saz-1500d @ 2ohms with upgrading to a second SA 12 as soon as I can ran @ 1ohm. Which one would perform better musically? I've never really done any comps at all so just music. Any one with experience with both would be much appreciated. Also I have thought about waiting and possibly trying the new sundown X 12 but dunno when it comes out so...I don't wanna wait a super long time. Also any amp ideas with the Sundown X 12 if that is the choice. Thank`s in advanced.
