2:1 ratio will give you a broad curve. 20 per is going to be groundpounder so dont expect big numbers. but itll help get down on the lows. and move air. tuning thats low for 4th orders is down in the low 40's wade my box in the truck is tuned to 46 you know im not competing so im not worried about numbers. lol Just trying to understand 4th orders. I know there was a good thread made about them a while ago but idk what section it was in. I figured the Enclosure/Subwoofer section but didnt see it. maybe i over looked it.

I am always thinking of different designs for boxes. And i am thinking i might want more port area than this ported box im about to run now. And i like 4th orders. Everyone i know that has one loves them and they work really well. I had a 15 in a 4th order in my trunk before and loved it. other than the port placement. Now i have 2 lvl 4 12s and im thinking about doing a 4th order for them in my trunk. My idea is to make 3 different boxes 2 sealed for the sealed sections for each sub and 1 common ported box for the ported section of the 4th order. Each sealed chamber would be on each side behind the rear wheel well and the ported section would run down the middle of them with a partial internal/external port. My questions are, whats the best ratios for 4th orders and whats a good tuning frequency for low response? And what a good large port area size? I was thinking close to 20sq inches per cube. Has anyone done 2 12s in a 4th order in a trunk before? I would have some measurements to work with but im outa town and my car is back home. :/ Any input or ideas will be great. Especially from ppl who have done a similar set up before.

you are going to brace your port pretty good or the weight of the subs are going to make is sag and it will not be good.

im guessing the cones are lvl 5 cones, so they are built to handle more power than what the xl motor can push. They just leveled the playing field a little bit. its still not as big as the lvl 5 motor just slightly bigger and a whole lot better. just a guess though.

the other 9 were acting as passive radiators. lol

lols like opti 6kd it has 1 channel ouput 1+ve and 1-ve if amp like ddz1a has 2+ve and 2-ve wht u call them 1 channel?? its still a 1 channel amp. It just has more speaker terminals to put more wire in. For like running 2 subs you can run all 4 terminals and not have to bunch up your wire into 2.

For how long I plan on keeping mine for a while. even if they run out your can recone an m1 motor and basket with an m2 recone. DC is cool like that.

yeah. im working on 2 lvl 4s on 2 1.2ks. getting the new cones soon. and i need a batt and another 1.2. gonna take a while. lol

im getting m2 cones. Started collecting Parts for my soon to be lvl 4s right as the m2s are coming out. I dont think i will be disappointed though. lol

I got to use my DD-1 for the first time today. And it worked like a charm when i found the max volume on my brother's radio until clipping. But when i went to set his gain i had some issues. I dont think it was the DD-1s fault at all. I think its the cheap amp my bro got. Radio EQ was flat gain all the way down on the amp Set it on track 5 for a good median of good sounding bass and loud bass Got the signal light got the 40hz detect then started turning the gain up to find distortion and at a certain point it looses the 40hz and signal Then i turn it back down and it pics them up again Turn it all the way up and never find any Distortion THEN we got the buzzing sound everyone seems to be getting but that was only because it turned to track 6. His amp is an Autotek ATX1600.2 2 Channel 1600 Watt Maxx Amplifier http://www.amazon.com/Autotek-ATX1600-2-Channel-1600-Amplifier/dp/B004XCC9BY So am i doing something wrong is is his amp just kinda crappy? which is what im thinking it is. i gonna have 2 m1 lvl 4 12s with m2 soft parts. and im planning on 2 1.2ks strapped. so once i get my electrical up i'll have 2400 on them. if that helps....

are u talking about getting the m2 lvl 4s? or the m1s? because i think the m2s will have a higher Rms... im not sure though.
