Not necessary to double post I rechecked and everything looks fine: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/134340-pioneer-champion-pro-12s/page__view__findpost__p__1889913 Review the design from Pioneer in the manual I just tuned it lower to reach the upper 20s.

Here is a suggestion on your dims: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 36.075 Hz Vb = 4.15 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 17.5 in External Width = 41 in External Depth = 16 in Port Width = 3 1/2 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Front = 36 3/4 x 16 Front Internal = 35 1/4 x 16 Back = 41 x 16 Left & Right Sides: Side 1 = 14 1/2 x 16 Side 2 = 15 1/4 x 16 Top & Bottom = 41 x 16 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 11 x 16 Extension = 4 x 16 Assembly guide: Any questions let me know.
-
The only way to answer that question with any level of accuracy is through modelling, I haven't done so with those particular subs, I'll check them out later.
-
You don't have the space for the 15"s with the 17.75 no way around it.
-
On your new specs a 18" or 2 12" will fit perfectly.. a shame 2 15" are such a great setup.
-
oooh your spec was messed up... yes you only would have 5-6 cubic feet after displacements.
-
So I modified my original post with the new spec, not sure if an all across bottom port is an option in your case, let me know.
-
All I would need is 0.75 extra to the top, if you want a center port back, 0.75 extra front to back, is that feasible?
-
What vehicle are you placing this box in?? and it will be beneficial to give me a couple of inches more, top or front if you want a less space saving design.
-
Here is a design suggestion based on your dimensions, note that the port goes all across the bottom of the rear (or front) side: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 39.962 Hz Vb = 8.333 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 25.75 in External Width = 33 in External Depth = 25 in Port Width = 4 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 33 x 25 Left & Right Sides = 23 1/2 x 23 1/2 Front & Back = 33 x 23 1/2 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 13 1/2 x 31 1/2 0.08 cubic feet have been reserved for bracing. Let me know if you need an assembly diagram.
-
Nos sure if you are asking fo r the net internal volume but that is listed on the spec of the design as Vb and is 3.2 cubic feet.
-
Those are SQ subs, it depends on the application.
-
Not seen the whole spec of either but the SA-8 takes 100 RMS more.
-
You have with that box a F3 = 27Hz before cabin gain so it will have plenty of bottom end with that tuning.
-
The REs are $49 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_27300_RE-Audio-REX8D4.html
-
Check the DC Audio L2 8" ..nice. You will only be needing 3.

Changed my original post to fit your new dims.

Can Someone Sketchup this box for the Avy?
Joe X replied to Real96SS's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Not sure if your actually saying the port is little but if so then yeah if you look through my build log towards the end I have some video's and you can see the subs loading differently on the port. The port was on the front baffle just to the side of the 2 subs. Yeah the wood will be 1" birch and I wanted to do double baffles so 2" total. So if you want the bracing added or transparency let me know. -
Yes it needs to be calculated.
-
Ok, since you have no particular dimensions here is a design suggestion that seem to fit nicely in most cases: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 35.057 Hz Vb = 3.189 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 16 in External Width = 40 in External Depth = 16 in Port Width = 3 1/2 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Front = 35 3/4 x 14 1/2 Front Internal = 34 1/4 x 14 1/2 Back = 40 x 14 1/2 Left & Right Sides: Side 1 = 14 1/2 x 14 1/2 Side 2 = 15 1/4 x 14 1/2 Top & Bottom = 40 x 16 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 11 x 14 1/2 Extension = 11 1/4 x 14 1/2 Here is an assembly giude: Let me know any questions.

What are your maximum dims and how much power do you have available.

When does more motor strength outweigh Cone area?

What about Vd Vd = Sd x Xmax -
Can Someone Sketchup this box for the Avy?
Joe X replied to Real96SS's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
So you are not saying what bracing you were considering to do so it's not drawn: I was wondering also you just put that little port on the side and got asymmetrical load?? Or where did you place the little port. -
Ok, on your dimensions I came up with this 3cuft@34Hz slot ported design: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 34.074 Hz Vb = 3.041 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Front Mounted External Height = 17 in External Width = 30 in External Depth = 17 in Port Width = 2 3/4 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Front = 26 1/2 x 15 1/2 Back = 30 x 15 1/2 Left & Right Sides: Side 1 = 15 1/2 x 15 1/2 Side 2 = 16 1/4 x 15 1/2 Top & Bottom = 30 x 17 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 12 3/4 x 15 1/2 Extension = 8 3/4 x 15 1/2 It assembles like this: The main issue with the calculations you had was the port area, and therefore the port volume.
