  1. Holy. Shit. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...mp;hl=&st=0 Think its time to stop asking questions and do something. 8 pages of threads, and at least 6 full pages are questions.
  2. You do realize how similar the design of an RE SE and FI (Lower power handling line) is right?
  3. Probox tunes their enclosures pretty high. You're better off making one yourself. Ray knows his shit. His hummer build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...;hl=rays+hummer
  4. I didn't even get to play with it that long before I came back up to college. I got a week off for Thanksgiving, worked my ass off deadening, building, installing amps, speakers, tweeters, deck, running wires, etc... I tested it with nothing at all in the trunk for a few days, cleaned the car, and came back up to college. I'll let you know around December 20th or so. I'd have to believe something big would definitely change the tuning/ airspace, but I wouldn't think small stuff, that doesn't rattle - unlike plastic bags - would have any affect on the sound at all. The whole trunk is sealed off from the cabin, so you shouldn't be able to hear it from the inside of the car. I'll let you know in a week and a half though. I still have a lot of things I wanna play with. Maybe gain a little more SPL.
  5. They are infinite baffle sub woofers, meaning they have a different QTS, or suspension stiffness. They can handle more power than a regular subwoofer in an infinite baffle setup because they have a suspension stiffness that allows them to handle being run in an enclosure that is usually very large. I couldn't tell you about Fs, but it's not like you can tune an IB setup to a certain frequency, you're just kinda working with your trunk... Generally speaking though, a well constructed IB setup has an extremely flat response from 20 - 60 Hertz. My setup is IB.
  6. The word is pretty self explanatory, but what does it mean to you? I can appreciate any tattoo more if it has meaning to the person it is on.
  7. JC for GE. Get your shit together, take some time out to visit a few colleges and find an atmosphere you like, apply for the next available semester. College is about YOU not ME or the other guy, find something that fits YOU and go for it. You won't be wasting any time at all at a Junior college, scraping up some GE. In fact, it will save you some money in the long run. So, all hope is not lost if you don't make it to the university level right away. I did the same thing as you and ended up going to a college that wasn't my first choice. I ended up loving it and thanking San Diego for not accepting me. I love the atmosphere my current college has to offer and I'm realizing now that that is more than anything. School is what you make it, so you may as well pick an atmosphere you can enjoy.
  8. If you have been admitted to college, applied for dorms, and paid your first tuition payment you can get a credit card in 10 minutes at the bank. I went to wellsfargo and established credit with those three things and they verified me in about 10 minutes.. Got my card a week later and haven't used it since! Ballin. It was $1,000 limit btw.
  9. Hell yeah bro! Congrats! I'll be seeing this monster this coming summer. I'll have a little something to bring along too. Nothing loud, but clear.
  10. Hooking up amps backwards always leads to 1) Blown internal fuses 2) Blown amp. Not to make assumptions right away, but whip out an ohm meter and go to town through your whole electrical system, from the battery to the back batteries to the amp. Hopefully there's a missing link that saved your amp. Doesn't looks like the audioque amps have internal fusing, so somethings gotta give. Help is cool, but if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself.
  11. LOL... His choice of running little or no exhaust is his bad, as well as rattling metal panels inside the car. I have the same engine in my car, but with the right exhaust they sound really good, even for a 4 cylinder. N/A = Naturally Aspirated. Here's what my car sounds like. Fact of the matter is if I had the money to rock a bad ass V8 gas guzzler I probably would, but I'm young and I'm working my ass off for what I've got. I've done everything you see done to the car below in my signature besides tinting the back 3 windows with my own hands. I am proud of what I've got, I went from a bone stock Si to a very respectable ride.
  12. Bass. Don't try to JDM a truck if it's not from Japan, designed in Japan, seen in Japan, etc... LOL.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS-lgj0jPac&NR=1 Damn, no joke.... chicks got an arm!
  14. Yup, it's about $25 a sheet. Have fun with the build bro! Do some research, with 2 sheets, you've got enough to double baffle some, if not most of the box. You can't go wrong with double baffling the box.
  15. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the link. Only difference is the suspension stiffness really, kind of to be expected. Nobody has done an IB with 2 15's in my car, only 2 12s... and it wasn't even a coupe, it was a sedan. But he seems to be very happy with the results. EDIT: Keep in mind - I'll worry about throwing down on new equipment once I'm over the M3s... I wanna play with them though.
  16. It won't be easy, but I'm really looking for something that sounds fairly good, and to be honest IB seems like an awesome way to keep everything really functional in my car. I'll still have back seats and a trunk and everything. If I can only send 600-800 watts to them, I will be happy. Less load on the electrical of my car. This is a setup I will only be able to listen to once every two months or so. I don't want to touch it. I want to be able to hop in my car, take a road trip and just enjoy the stereo. I've never been able to do that, because I've always been worried about getting louder and louder. I'm hoping it will be louder and more responsive than 2 12s of course, and I'm especially hoping it will still bump at low volumes, but I'm going to try it either way now. The way I want to do it, I'm thinking I'll be able to take out the IB 'wall' from the trunk and throw a box in. If the box doesn't work out, back to IB. As far as VAS, I can only hope that the 100 SQ feet of mat and 100 sq feet of ensolite can help that. There will definitely still be flex, but I'm going to fill the void spaces and everything... Needs to be done either way.
  17. Anybody have any experience with infinite baffle enclosures? I keep getting mixed opinions on them, but I'm figuring with the equipment I've got, the install space I have, and the goal I'm going for, infinite baffle may be the setup for me. As of now, I have too little power to reach high SPL numbers, and too little time to be messing around with my system all the time. I'm in college, and I have a ton of stuff waiting back at home for me to install, including 100 sq feet of sound deadening, as well as 100 sq feet of closed cell foam padding, which will set me up for an IB setup... If it will work out with what I have. I have less than 7 days to install everything before I go back to school, but I'm in no rush at all. I want to get it done right. I have about 1000 RMS going to 2 15'' memphis M3 subwoofers (MC-1000D) and ~300 RMS going to a set, or two if I have time, of 6.5'' zapco component speakers. Is there such thing as an 'infinite baffle' sub woofer, because many people tend to think so, while some don't. What I'm looking to do for now is just run what I've got. In short, something low maintenance and efficient, as far as performance goes. This setup will be sealed off deck, subs forward with the seat down. Any opinions are greatly appreciated!
