I'm a noob tryin to learn! How do you figure up port dimensions and port volume? Please someone help me! Also how do you guys know what lengths tune to what? Like how did you know he wasnt goin to be tuned right?

So I'm gonna raise my seat and do two 12s at 500 watts rms each. In a ported box how loud will this be?? Really loud compared to 1 10" on a small sealed bOx?

Thanks man! Well the box dimensions are 14" High, 20" Wide, 15" Deep, which gives me 1.5 cubes after displacement. A port calculator says i need 33" of port.. i was like that cant be right. can it?? I need help haha bumpin

Okay while i wait until i have the money for an amp so i can start on the project of building the box i am going to build a ported box for my 10" mtx just to see if i can do it! I got the right dimensions down to get 1.5 cubic feet of air space.. How do i find how tall, wide and long i need my port to be?! Ive looked everywhere.

Im finally understanding it a little bit! like for a wedge shaped box i learned that size the depth of the bottom is going to be bigger then the top you average the two! Fuckin A!

100% agree with this. those boxes do suck to build from scratch and if you havent built one before i wouldnt suggest it. Now if you do want to build one yourself draw it all out and get a rough design (thats what i do) then worry about cuts once its there laid out for you. Or you could buy a prefab box like he said, then work out the cubes it has and the displacement you will have and port it yourself. Throw a few 4" pieces of tubing in there and call it good. Wont take you more than 30 minutes (TOPS) of work time when you could spend more than all day on that box with your experience you know? im making this up, its freezing ass cold outside and im lazy.. haha i was just wondering how to do this... here is my guess.. i could go 3 feet long, 1 1/2 feet deep, 1 foot tall in the front, and 8 inches in the back? (the seat tapers back?) and then there is a transmission hump. hope that helped alrite what kinda truck do u drive cause ive yet to see a truck thats got a tranny hump under the back seat so ima just take that factor out for u I drive a 95 chevy k1500 and I could go like 4 or 5 feet long.. How ever wide a regular truck is haha

Okay for example (this isn't what im getting but its the first thing i came across) Anyways say i wanted to build a ported box for this sub. the mtx thunder 8000 here are some specs, freq response- 32-200 hrtz mounting depth is 7.68" Volume Displacement 51.26 cu in Vented Enclosure Net Volume 2.00 cu ft RMS Power (Watts) 500 Okay.. lets say i wanted this under the back seat of my truck.. (i know its to small of a space but lets just say) How do i even begin?! most subs are ported to what? 33 hrtz? Okay i want this sub tuned to 33 hrtz. How do i begin to even design it? how do i make that box fit in a certain area? its 2.00 cu ft. but i have no idea what sizes to cut the wood? port size? ahhh this is confusing. thanks.. sorry im kinda dumb at this whole ported thing

Okay well im 15 and as you know, this is what i drive. well i only have my permit and so i only drive with my parents. My dad works a lot of hours so i really only get to drive my truck with my mom. My mom is great, shes a typical protective mother and i love her to death. I have ADHD really bad. im embarrassed of it and hide it from everyone. I am on meds and i do good in school. It seems like when im driving i daze off alot.. Today a truck stopped in front of me and i almost rear ended them.. thank god my mom said something.. and then i also didn't notice a yellow light so yeah.. i pretty much ran a red light. I took drivers ed and got a record score for the whole 40 years he's been teaching. He said i did amazing. I need a little advice guys..
