  1. I know power should be ran on one side of the car and rcas on the other. I have both my sub amp wire (0awg) and mids/highs amp wire (4awg) ran on the drivers side, and the rcas on the passenger side. Both my amps are in the rear of my car, but I am going to bolt my mids/highs amp on top of my passenger rear wheel well so when the panels are put on it will remain hidden. I recently swapped my door speakers and ran new speaker wire (12awg) to all doors. I am going to try and clean up all the wiring to were if I ever remove my woofers I can just leave the wiring to the mids/highs amp and door speakers and have it all hidden/looking factory. My question is on the drivers side, can I zip tie my mids/highs amp wire (4awg) with the doors speaker wiring (12awg) or will this cause a proplem? And on the passenger side, can I zip tie the rca's to the door speaker wiring (12awg)? Any suggestions? ps I know 12 awg wire is kind of over kill, but it was either 12 or 16 at the time I purchased so I said f#$* it.
  2. good info and tips! Looking forward to seeing those glassed c-pillars.
  3. What could be done to make them sound like an actual tweet (just play highs)? better or bigger crossovers? I tried all the settings on the headunit itself and not much difference... I even reconnect the stock 2inch full range just to see if i might have messed something up, but they sound good.. Im just a little lost now..
  4. So I finally get my set of tweeters and run the new pair (alpine spr 10tw), and another set I already had (alpine dts), off the headunit (alpine cda117). I wire em up, and they sound horrible, they start distorting right away and medium volumes and can somewhat tell they're getting midbass freqs. My question is what is the typical freq that tweeters are crossed at so they only play the highs? I got the stinger bass blockers aswell (5.6khz 4ohm) and they still don't sound good at all.. I am also running the (alpine powerpack 4x45) Before I ran the stock bose full range 2inch speakers that come stock on the trailblazers and they sound ok but wanted just highs off the dash locations. Input and information appreciated. I'm just effin pissed, I was leaning towards that they would sounds crisp and clean but very not the situation apperently..
  5. I was planning on building a set with either dayton audio and vifas or something, but I just would rather have more experiance under my belt before I start gathering a set together.. I have emailed a couple of company's and am trying to get the spx 17pro for the best price I can, shooting for 330 shipped. But for now I think I will go with the type r's off a alpine f4 100x4, which would already be a huge improvement from my current 50 dollar coaxs my car came with. Thank you for all the help everyone. I am a really slow builder but will try and get info together and pics and start a build log soon.
  6. Thanx for the advice man! I made an offer to them and they accepted 367 as their lowest which is not bad I suppose, but have never heard them and not sure if I should pull the trigger on these bad boys.. I would like to hear the experiance someone has had with the type x pro line of alpine first hand.. no near by car audio store have these for me to listen to either.. but I would imagen alpine would make them significantly better than the type r line.
  7. You can pick up the (spr-60) 6.5 type r coaxs go for around 110 and the (spr-60c) 6.5 type r components for 155ish, which are good prices and would all match up but only thing holding me back is just knowing I could of gone another level better and get the (spx-17pro) 6.5 type x componets.. which are really out of my budget, around 450.
  8. I first bought my headunit (alpine cda 117) and damn love it, then hooked up some tweets (alpine dts 1inch) and they are nice too. I have had good experiance and really like alpine stuff and would like to alpine 6.5 door speakers off an alpine amp but haven't heard many people post about them. I have heard the alpine 6.5 component type r's and like the way they sound. Just really looking for more feedback of people who have used the type r's or type x's in their doors or anything.. My goal would be an all alpine themed speakers (except woofers) Alpine cda 117 headunit (installed) Alpine ktp 445 powerpack (installed) Alpine dts tweets on b pillars (installed) Alpine spr-10tw in dash (ordered) Alpine 6.5 components in fronts (undecided) Alpine 6.5 coaxials in rears (undecided) Alpine f4 amp for door (most likey because of its small footprint) Good line up? Suggestions? Input appriciated.
  9. everything was sharing the ground bolt and factory power.. smh. And I actually do have some knu 8awg laying around I never used... use what you got I guess. Thank you for all the help. Much appreciated.
  10. Sounds good, should I also do it to the eq? Maybe run like 8awg from batt to the back of radio area and distribute from there..
  11. I have a yellow top under the hood and the big 3 in zero gauge, it is good but I have never had headunit dimm before till after the power pack install. I will run them straight to the battery and see how that affect is, but most likely that will do the trick..
  12. I have not yet installed my woofers and am in the pricess of upgrading my mids and highs and sound deadeneing. Long story short, I added an alpine ktp445 power pack to my cda 117 headunit, plan on running a couple tweets off the headunit and my doors have a 4 channel amp, but after I installed it at high volumes 25/35 the lights on the headunit and my clarion eq dimm really bad. I had the alpine headunit, the clarion eq, the bose2onstar module, and a steering wheel controls module all crimped to power.. but my question is, in a situation like this do you need a relay? Or what is a proper fix?
  13. Just fyi, the AQ supertweets are on backorder for another month or so..
  14. Why is it so in particular that everyone uses us composites resin?
  15. I am in the process of re-doing all my speakers and wiring and personally irke to ep most stock postioning and just add more from their, I will be doing first 6.5 comps in front and 6.5 coaxs in the rear off a 100x4 with second skin damp pro.. see how that sounds then just add maybe a couple tweeters on the a pillar; my personal goal is to have sick tweeter a pillars for a better font stage effect.
  16. then just to ensure i get a pack may i place an order through email or another way?
  17. Is b stock damp pro up for grab still, I can't seem to order from the computer I'm on..
