Electrical Noise Wit Subs?
tacomabanga1986 replied to lgn0213's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
sounds like u got ground loop noise, the only way i could get mine to stop is to ground my rcas at the headunit, how u do this is on rcas there a lil metal piece in the middle of the rca and a round piece that goes over the input to make the connection, strip back some 18guage wire about 2 inches, rap it around the part on the outside of the rca not the inside, and ground it were the headunit is grounded and then hook it up it wont affect signal thats how i got mine cause even if u re run everything it will start again, i went threw 3 sets of rcas and noise filters and this is the onlything that worked, just make sure u do it at the headunit not the amp u dont halfto do both sides just one, but if ur runnin like a mids n highs amp to do one on the mids n highs amp and one on the sub or sub, hope this helps ur ? -
it should be the same eather way, my old mtx 500d was like that, its internally bridged into 2channels just to make it easyer on wireing cause most of the mtx show trucks only use one side of the pos n neg's, it should be the same on each side but if u hooked like 2ohm to a and 2ohm to b it will set the amp to 1ohm, i think chode used it like that for runnin 2 subs, each at 2ohm to the amp makes it alot cleaner looking and easyer to hook up, but whats wierd about my amp is, its internally bridged into 2 channels but u can bridge those 2 channels to i dont get it, its like +speaker1- +speaker2- i dont get it why companys do this b |______bridge_______| maby to make it look kewler i dunno or just a more efficent way of hookin em up, hope the answers ur question mayne and good luck with it just make sure that what ohm load u hook to each will step eachother down in the middle like a 4ohm to a and 4ohm to b=2ohm to amp

--> QUOTE(Eric B @ Nov 28 2007, 09:54 PM) 201570[/snapback] I was think port andsub facing down and sealed off from the trunk, so wouldnt that be a bandpass? I could fit 2 15s that way and could fit 4 12s tha way also, or i could jus do it the other way and have 2 12s ported and sealed off from the trunk, what yall think? ive got 2 15's downfireing in my truck behind the seat n it beats hard, basicly what a downfire does is take the front wave of the speaker n fires it off the floor to give that reverbitation and a louder sound, but the hight off the floor is a tricky thing, if its to high it wont sound right, but if its to low the cone will hit, mines 3'' off the back seets in my truck and sounds killer, im not sure about downfireing ported box tho might try n cancle itself out with the air hittin the cone as it comes out n messin with the front wave, all the downfire boxs ive seen is eather sub down port back/side/front/ or sub down sealed, ied try diff boxs tho, oh and a downfire is kinda picky to, ied take some wire mesh n make a trim pannel around the hole were the air comes out so if trash or somethin gets sucked up in it i wont mess up ur subs, and most downfires i kno sound better when its shaped like |__| three walls n air comes out the open spot, not really a need for rounded cuts n make sure the floor is flat without any creases it may affect the sound, i had a 5500 12'' ina downfire box prolly 1cf if that sealed powered with a ma400w amp and it was slumpin, anyways hope that helped and good luck with ur build

i aint done the big three yet but im gunna, and my stock alt is 130amps should be fine i think, and im chooseing these subs i think, http://cgi.ebay.com/2-MTX-THUNDER-7500-15-...1QQcmdZViewItem or http://cgi.ebay.com/Pair-Kicker-Comp-VR-15...1QQcmdZViewItem would 3 12's be louder than 215's with less power? like 3 5500 4ohm 12's should be 1.5ohm with 800-1000rms or 2 7500 1544's dual 4ohm with 1000wrms @ 1ohm? bout the same size box sealed? or 4 12'' 5500 4ohm with maby 250 each that are 300rms? or 2 kicker comp vr dual 4ohm 15's, i dont kno what will be louder without gettin another amp, im tryin to stay away from 12's, i kno more serface area = louder but with more watts n less serface area maby same sound dunno, but im lookin at less than 400 a set of 15's that my 1000d will push good and get decently loud, i was wantin some level 3 dc 15's with the carbonfiber cone but dont kno how much they run anybody kno by chance and those would sound killer in my truck -

so an amp clamp is the dmm with the hoop thing on the end of it? if so then kewl cause i was wondering what it was for anyways lol and thankx for the help mayne really apreciate it, oh and can i use my 0guage wire comein from my front batt and run it to my rear battery, then from it to the cap n from the cap to the 0guage to the sub amp and run 4guage from the batt to my mids n highs amp or just run another 4guage run n pull out the 8guage i got to it now cause its tryin to pull to hard on that 8guage its makein my lights dim i think not sure and maby the cap will help with that just wondering on this to clear everything up befor i start pittleing with it, and ima go pickup some cheap stinger 0guage ring terminals cause the ones i got now are ksunomi(sp) to do the big three so when i buy those cvr's i'll give em what they want, or maby just spring n get the 7500's n say the hell with it, u cant take money with u when u die so why try n keep it on earth, cause ima have one hell of a street beater when i get done with my honda or try to anyways, i want to do ported but i dont have good luck with em and im so useto sealed anywho, 6&1/2'' polk db6500's in the back with the tweets were the middle break light is and resess em there so the highs will come straight up the middle n put my kicker ks6&1/2's in the front so i can use the kit n angle my tweets or make some tweet pods for em, all thats in my truck will go in the honda when i get the motors switched out, and then on to body mods -
