Hmmm, ok, thanks. I just took a wild guess while waiting for answers and took and inch off my port length to see. I got a 35.5hz tuning. I could probably live with that. I cant go any longer or else i will be too close to the back of the box. My only other option is to go out the sides of the box, but that would put the ports in the front right under the subs. i don't know how that will work or sound. also, Is my port area good enough? it's 12.5 in^2 at 10.5" length. Anyone know the radius on the 4" aero's from parts express?

So when i rebuild i am going with a 4" aero in each side in a divided box. I want to know if i count from tip to tip on the aeros as length. I've seen this asked before and i can't remember and can't find that thread because there are like 4 jillion threads titled "aero port length". I titled this thread so maybe when others search maybe this will come up and help. From what i can find it says, "yes, count the flares". Thanks! also: sundown sa-12 What i have is 2.04cuft after displacement one 4" @ 11.25" gives me 12.56in² port area tuned to 34hz That will put the port exactly 4" from back of box. That sound about right? This will actually be a divided box, so this will be X2

Well, I just tried to send a copy of "the two towers" to my sister over yahoo messenger. Like a 2.5 hour movie and its 7.2GB. I didn't actually send it, but messenger didn't give me any warnings or anything. Maybe you could try that?

what? I've been running two wet cells on a stock alt (65a) for like 6 months, still rest at 12.9 after a week, and 13.2 after a good night on the trickle charger. My alt has help up and my voltage doesn't go below 13.8. I see 14.4 and 14.5 cold at idle, Of course in this 104 degree weather and with the engine at normal temp i still see 14.4 while diving. Could you explain why you said that?

They will be active for sure, figured i let them play as low as they want and low pass then around 150 or so, I can always bump the high pass up to whatever i need if it cancels out for some reason. I'm just saying I have band-pass capability no problem. It's just an experiment anyway. I have 0 funds right now and can't do anything with the car so I just need something to keep me busy on my days off. Gotta save up for an alt and batteries and an amp and ...... you know how it is.

Idk, i may toss something together and see. thinking maybe high pass at 65 or 70, since i lose alot from the sa's right there, and then top them off at 120-150. I can band-pass them easy enough. I guess i have to experiment.

I've seen 12's as mid-bass but not subs as mid-bass. They probably would sound a bit muddy. Maybe i should just trade them for some mid-bass speakers. edit. well i have seen 8" p3's used as mid-bass. but that's a bit different than a 12

Well, i have two sa-12's already, so i would have those and the kenwoods. That's what i meant. And they have a freq reponce of 34-300. Maybe i'll cut them off at 150, i don't know yet.

Well, i'm looking for more midbass anyway. i might even go as low as .8 cuft. I'll only be giving them probably 250 -300 watts each after rise. They used to do pretty well down to about 35 in 1.25cuft.

So i was thinking that i have a pair of kenwood 3013's-12's laying around. My wife hates bass and the kenwoods love small sealed boxes and sound very musical. If i am a bit creative i could fit them in the very back of the hatch probably in a 1cuft enclosure on either side firing twords each other or like this "\______/" I want to let them play down to say 30hz and up to about 200hz, Bad idea?

I saw that low hertz high volume and it goes into protect and the first thought in my mind was low voltage. Like blue said, low voltage can cause clipping and it will make an amp go into protect. If it has happen several times then the amp has probably weakened and just finally gave up. I would invest in a volt meter and really research the big 3 before purchasing a new amp. I've said it before but, electrical is a big part of car audio, and an expensive part. But it's the most important.

Why not use something like this, stick the painter tape to it so the tape doesn't stick to the headliner. Then put this on the edge of your trim panels. So I put the kenwoods in my wifes car, they are running off a carbon 600.1 My camera battery died, so i am going to make another vid later. But this thing does move a lot of air for a sealed enclosure. Moves the windshield just a bit too! And it beats the hell out of the back half of the car. edit: dangit, just a sec.

yes im using 1/0 wire. I also was told the fuse is to protect the wire not the equipment, only to protect equip[ment in a short. I will go with 200 amp fuse for each as i have thse fuses at home. That is true for wire ran between power sources such as alt to battery and battery to battery. Wire from battery to amp should be fused for the amp.

I was thinking about this today, and i thought the same as others have said, if the box is build right and it's rigid enough, it would be the safest place for the amps. since it is pretty much the source for vibrations. I mean, who puts deadener on the sub box?
