  1. There is a little bit on the build log for Chicken's beast.
  2. He did a pretty good job. I wonder what kind of control systems are used in these setups. The concept seems simple enough, but the control wirework and the relay blocks, etc. I'm sure it would get to be a lot of work and probably a good deal of $, unless there is some really intense Xmas light control system for sale at Home Depot that I've never noticed. Anyone know what is being used?
  3. Lucky on all that. Glad to hear it though. I guess its nice to get the V bonus. I can't do it. That stuff screws me up way more than it "helps" so I have to steer clear or I'm in for a bad time.
  4. Foolish, well, I think we have all done some of those, and none of us are exempt from doing some more. I guess the best we can do is try to make them as few and far between as possible. I am just glad to hear that you are ok and still basically all intact. What did they do for you at the hospital, stitches, staples?
  5. Dang man. I'm sorry to hear that you got hurt, but glad to hear that you are ok and that it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I did that same shit about 3-4 weeks ago with a 3/8 round-over bit. I escaped pretty lucky. Take care your hand, I hope it heals well and fast.
  6. Yeah, and I believe that they have some type of tie to Rigid. I was throwing that whole thing about Ryobi instead of Dewalt to Eric B since he mentioned buying Dewalt soon. I'm not trying to knock on them, I know of plenty of people who swear by Dewalt, and it looks like the newest stuff seems to hold up a lot better than the junk that I have owned from them.
  7. Don't spend the money on the dewalt. Go for the new Ryobi stuff. Much cheaper and it works rather well. I have been through way too many Dewalts, even the 24v stuff died in my posession. Due to a lack of funds since I was spending unbelievable money on tools only to have it crap out as soon as warranty was gone, I had to buy cheap. I bought 2 different Ryobi kits (1 with Hammerdrill and flashlight, and one with reg. drill, flashlight, circ saw, sawzall, vacuum and both kits had a charger and 2 bats each) and now over 3 years later they are still going with no issue. The only complaint that I have is that their batteries don't last as long as I feel that they should. That is supposed to be remedied in their new stuff with the green color theme that just came out.
  8. I think that the $1100 is for the subs only. I am still going out of what most would say and push for multiple 12s. A bunch of 12's ported in a wall could do some damage, especially in an S-10. There will be an issue of what kind of 12s that you could come up with on that budget to do a bunch. You could pull off 4 Fi SSD 12s or 4 AQ HDC3 12s. It might be cooler if you were able to come up with 6 or 8 12s and run the T4k across all of them. Diamond D3 maybe, I got 6 for about $570 from an ebay store. Maybe Alpine Type R or something from ebay. Just some thoughts. The two 18s still sounds like a good thought too.
  9. I've heard of buying stars and for the price you get to name it as you see fit. Hmmm. Kind of cool, I guess.
  10. Dang. I'm lucky. I do some of the jewelry and perfume and stuff, but some of the most successful presents that I have bought for my wife include the last set of 20's she had on her truck, a flip-out DVD headunit, there have been amps and subs too. I don't mean for the point of this to be just me bragging. My point would be that yes, you can default and do the jewelry or perfume (and if you do, don't feel bad, we all have to when our creativity fails us). I'm pretty sure that it will have a good probability of going over well, but what would she want more, what is she into? What are her hobbies and interests? See if you can't figure out something that she would really love to have but will not buy for herself. I know it is tough, women sit there and secretly want things and usually leave the worst hints. Usually we talk/fantasize/drool over whatever it is we want so there is no doubt for them when they go to get us something. You have one son, is that correct? Is there someone really trustworthy and reliable who could babysit for a couple of days? Maybe book a 3-4 day weekend getaway to Hawaii, a ski lodge, Vegas, etc? If you think that the travel might be a good idea, PM me, I go to LV a bunch and I have learned of some good sites to book pretty cheap vegas trips. Maybe something more local to you might work as well. Does she have an old hobby or passion that she has fallen away from? Maybe there might be something you could get her in relation to that? Good luck. If I come up with any genius ideas (not likely) I'll throw up another post.
  11. $350 for the pair pick up or + shipping. Anyone?
  12. Does anyone know if it allows the subs to get more excursion? Or does it even make a difference?
  13. Seems to bang pretty nice. I really like that style of surround that Alpine is using on their subs.
  14. Some of us are fortunate on that one. I happen to be quite lucky on that subject.
  15. I'm a little late on this one, but how about 2 RE SX 15s ported? It looks like you should have enough room for that, and I can tell you I have not been disappointed in the ones that I used to run.
  16. I would push for something other than 6 sealed if it were me. Whether it is Fi, AQ, RE, etc., I would push for some better subs. If the $1100 is available just for subs and he doesn't have any other items that he has to buy with the money from his parents how about 2 BTL 18's? There are a bunch of options. Maybe setup 6 or 8 12's ported. 12s can get loud. Just some thoughts.
  17. That sounds pretty good. I guess LCD tvs are kind of the big item this year. Good stuff.
  18. Craziness. Looks like some people got some good stuff. I have never been really successful any of the times that I have gone. It really frustrates me that retail stores advertise the specials that they have and then they don't have the inventory to back it up. We went after some laptop/notebook computer deals 2 years ago, and they only had 11 to start with. Needless to say with 300 people in front of us we didn't get one. I decided that I was done with that
  19. Does he already have the amp? Will there be enough room to fit 6 ported or are you looking at 6 sealed? As far as alternative sub ideas, have you looked at audioque?
  20. Congrats on getting the Wii for your nephew, I'm sure that will make his Christmas this year for sure.
  21. Congrats on getting in on any of the black friday laptop/notebook specials. The odds of success in those situations is similar to the odds on winning the lottery. lol.
  22. Hopefully that will help. I gave up on that insanity after a pair of cops started threatening to spray mace at all of us just because of some people at the front who were shoving each other.
  23. No problem. Glad to be of help when I can.
