  1. Are you checking the voltage at the amp terminals?
  2. build pics can be found in the DC section: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...c=52441&hl=
  3. Was waiting for this thread to get posted :hairtrick: :hairtrick: :hairtrick:
  4. For a more sensible reply (unusual for me!) Both are great subs, the DCs are my preferred weapon of choice though more expensive. Have a look at this lads videos, 2 x 15" level 5s in the boot of a grand cherokee in a box designed by myself...... seems to work quite nicely http://www.youtube.com/user/m3jappa
  5. Sorry for the slow update guys progress has been slow due to me working away a lot, hopefully get you some updates soon. Oh and remember guys when using expanding foam wear goves!
  6. My understanding is if you toast them you toast them.... as per any other manufacturer. However if there is a manufacturing defect then it would be covered.
  7. Having played with both i personally prefer the way the DC's play, both are awesome woofers though
  8. In that case please show me the DD motor the same as a level 5 thanks I shall not concern myself with a forum troll, no point in product bashing fact is there are many great brands out the some of which are mentioned in this thread.
  9. ok then....please show me a 4XL & 5 sub from re... The level 4s might LOOK the same as am SX howevr the wy in hich they perform is very different. the bold bit in the reply you quoted is the important bit... sundown do not do the 2Ker as mentioned in this thread....sundown buy from the same build house.... as do MANY other companies this particular build house is VERY highly regarded in the industry... DC no longer do batts Welcome to the real world components are shared as it keeps the cost down, who cares if it means you get a cheaper prouct, unless you want to a for the R&D costs repeatidly... Now go crawl back under the rock you came from
  10. Have you tried to just increase the tension on the belt?
  11. Haha indeed No pics this week as we forgot to take the camera to the unit, we will add more pics next weekend
  12. Not possible without measuring the current unfortunately. However this would do the job nicely http://cgi.ebay.com/240KW-1K-Amp-Clamp-on-...93%3A1|294%3A50
  13. Nice idea unfortunately it does not take into account impedance rise etc so does not give a true power figure unless you play into a fixed load. Also meter should be set to AC volts not AC current
  14. It is large however it is also pretty low tuned and low tuning favours larger cabs, more importantly its MUCH easier to make a box smaller than it is bigger if required. Actual cab size is 7.75 per woofer iirc (recomended is between 5 & 8 cubes), once its togeather we will have a play and resize if necessery
  15. its SPL paint! aka black gloss lol And thanks, still lots to do but progress is fast
  16. Efficiency figures are largely irrelivant as they are measured at x frequency and x power.
  17. As Dave(thetroublemaker) is a busy guy i thought I'd post this up for him...All readings were taken in full legal db drag position, all windows and doors closed etc. System is 2 x DC Level 4's and 2 x Sundown 1500z's all located in the trunk. The peak was 36hz, we have included plots for 25,30,36,40 and 45hz. Very happy with the results, and hope theres still more to come on a straight burp with cool coils (we spent a while trying to find the peak before realising it was lower than 40 lol!)
