  1. hmm, not really sure how to answer the question about the difference between 3&4 way system i'm thinking that the 2 ch 3 way system would only use two of the outputs of your radio to go into a crossover, eq or amp that then splits the signal to fr/r/sub. the other uses all outputs to have it's own input into c/o, eq or amps. i would think that's whats meant, maybe someone else will correct me or agree. as far as changing the crossover points on your new speakers your going to have to play that one by ear. a component set is going to give you a lot better sound (assuming you still have stock?). you don't have to change; i would leave the settings alone at first and see what it sounds like then play from there. the only person that can tell you what sounds good is you.
  2. audiocontrol 3.1 is what i use in my benz i absolutley love it. i also have ppi par650 in my escape. it's a badass unit as well, it has a ton of features. i might be gettin rid of it though cause i don't need it in the present system. i'll let it go for cheap if you r'e interested
  3. does the memphis bass knob work with mch1300? and does it control volume or is it a boost? oops i feel stupid now that i see pics i was at work when i responded and all i saw were red x's
  4. just wondering if anybody would be interested in buying this ppi 650 paragraphic eq/crossover? thinking maybe $70 shipped i paid $229. it's an awesome unit has a lot of features, and very well taken care of, but i might not need it for my next setup. only thing is it's suppossed to allow you to change the background lighting between blue and green. but shortly after i bought it (and lost the reciept) the blue led's stopped working. the green ones are fine. other than that no problems. i still have the owners manual and box with install brackets. the little marks on the knobs are just reference marks for when i play with the crossover, i'll clean that off if someone buys it.
  5. w116 driver here; and i wanted so bad to say you were just exaggerating, but OH MY GOD that was horrrrrrrrible!!!! EPIC FAIL!
  6. hey folks i attached a pic so you know it's mine. i used this less than a week or two and it's in great condition. buy from me and i'll pay shipping. $40 gets it
  7. you only have to worry about the alt overworking if you play your stereo with the car off for a long time. once you drain the bat in the back the alt is now trying to fully charge both bats to my understanding. i have two bats in my benz, upgraded wiring, running off the stock alt and have no dimming at all. but i am running just over half of what you'll be running. and my stock alt is only 55a!!! unless your planning on competing or sitting in a parking lot blasting all day, i wouldn't stress over a new alt just yet.
  8. well sorry to hear that but i sho as hell can't wait for the second one! and when they release the real preview i'll be on that sh!* like flies.
  9. just one external fuse@225a is what it uses.
  10. the us amp doesnt have fuse inputs, but from the website info i just read it says to use 225a fuses. i'm at work so i can't look at the fuses on the other amp. but i think it has two 40a fuses. looks like i am going to have to get a 300a circuit breaker
  11. haveta look but i think 150 or 180. i have 2ga wire running from bat to bat, then one ga from bat to amp.
  12. hmm.. yes this makes sense. think i'll do that this weekend, thanks folks.
  13. the us amps is 1200w @2ohms and the highs amp is i think is 75-100 per channel@4ohms
  14. yeah but i already had the red top from another car where i had red upfront yellow in the back. as for the wires you saying i should just do the three runs of 8ga straight from the battery?
  15. just looking for a ideas i have us amps 400 on two fi ssd 12's and i have already done the wire upgrades on the engine, have a second battery in the trunk (red top) and have 0 ga running to a distribution block where it seperates the power wire to my highs amp and the lows amp. now heres where i'm looking for ideas. on the us amps it takes three runs of 8ga wire each for ground and pos. if i already have a distro block with 0 ga running to it and the three 8ga to the amp should i leave it or should i increase the size of the 8ga wire? you guys think that would make any diffrerence?
  16. if anyone is interested in this amp i can make a vid of it running some subs in stereo and mono. the amp is just collecting dust and i could use the money.
  17. bumpy... this is a good amp. any offers? does nobody want this amp? or is it because i don't have ref's? iv'e never sold anything online before just bought stuff. but how can i get good ref's if nobody buys my stuff? kinda catch 22
  18. yeah that's what i told him but he insisted on buying 4 gauge. and it wasn't my money so he got what he got. but now that i think about it after he got his new alt and battery his charge was still pretty low. but i think it wasn't just the install because this guy had an an rf p8002 before that for a month and blew it when i looked at it he had the gains and boost to maximum! now even after he bought the new bat and alt he came int work yesterday and wants to get rid of everything because now he has blown his door speakers and one of the fifteens. when i set up his system it was loud with no distortion or clipping. he messed with the settings i'm sure . probably boosted everything to max.
  19. maybe but i have never in all my years used a dmm to set up my sound systems.not saying i am an expert in the field by no means but i have been running high power systems since 89 and not once have i blown my speakers amps or killed any alts because i don't set my stuff up for any distortion or clipping. and right now i have us amps400 and two fi ssd twelves in a 74 benz and in my escape memphis mch1300 with two twelves. both have optima bats with wire upgrades i believe you guys call it the big3. i haven't had a problem yet and probably not going to. you don't always have to use a dmm if you use common sense and good wiring. he didn't want to buy extra wiring even after i told him that high current amp was going to need it. and comparing his amp to both the amps that i have and what they "put out" his, even at full capacity, was still going to suck!
