  1. I would not recommend over powering them by that much. I have always had really good results running Kicker subs at 200 watts over their RMS but not double. If you are going to do it then I would stick to a sealed box and stay to the small side of the manufactures recommendations or I would wire for 8 ohm which would be like 400 watts and do a ported box tuned to 38 hertz. That is my opinion.
  2. Do you live in a rural area where there are farms? If so go talk to a farmer I'm sure the have an old pick up truck. If you are whiling to trade out a little bit of labor I'm sure a farmer would help train you.
  3. Find an ATV (four wheeler) that has a manual drive train on it and get a little practice on it first. That way you get used to the whole concept. Then find a little car to get used too. I'm pretty sure that was how I learned some 13, 14 years ago. Avoid a dirt bike unless you want to get hurt. LOL
  4. Nothing wrong with the CompVR man. Run what you want to run. Like they said yep you can wire 8 d4s into a 1 ohm load. series them all to be 8 ohm then parallel them all to a 1 ohm load. Just to allow a more even flow of electricity I would make two sets of four 8 ohm woofers to get each set of four to 2 ohms then I would parallel your 2 sets of 2 ohm loads together to get 1 ohm. If I confused you do it the easiest way possible.
  5. Steve the only question I have about this item is; What is the voltage swing? My scope is +- 100 volts ac or DC. So in my opinion my scope is no good for an amp over 2,500 watts RMS.
  6. I like Jolly Ranchers :)

  8. Holy WoW, I didn't even know that thread existed here and I hope that it is pinned some where. LOL I think reading that should be a prerequisite before you could become a member here HA HA HA. Thanks man that will help me out. There is always so much to learn and forget and things a person just didn't have to concern their selves with learning that this thread is a big deal. Thank you again for linking me to it
  9. What is the difference between F3 and Fs? For some reason I only find one term or the other.
  10. Thanks man Ya I should be fine and this conforms what I was thinking. If I have a fixed subsonic filter at 25 hertz and tuning at 40 there is just a big gap there where the woofer can unload. On larger subs I like to be tuned at 35 hertz for the sound and an unloading gap of 25 to 35 I like better. 10s sound pretty good at 40 and I understand why I would do that but I just have the feeling that I will enjoy my 10 at 35 hertz better. If my port wasn't L shaped or a fixed port I would make it changeable. Ah maybe I might still make a changeable port if the box is large enough. LOL back to the drawing board. Thanks again.
  11. I want to build a box for my 10 inch subs that is tuned to 35 hertz instead of 40 hertz. Most of my 10s have an Fs of 38 hertz and some have Fs of 33 hertz. What is the consequence for tuning below Fs?
  12. I'm sooooo F'ing tired!!!!! Must sleep!!!!

  20. Man is it slow in the ole forum this morning!

  21. Me personally have always used a bass boost and if I wasn't lazy I would do a write up about it. Fact, your gain control only has one setting on it per different head unit. The bass boost would be useful depending on the type of music you listen too. LOL this is why I run RF. I'm a huge rock and heavy metal fan and that is where a bass boost comes into play for me. A variable bass boost can come in real handy if you need help emphasizing your resonant frequency. Unfortunetly the bass boost has become the death of many woofers to many new comers to car audio. PS if you set up your bass boost for rock and metal and then tried to play rap witch already has an emphasis recorded into the bass at the same volume level as you play rock you will clip and then blow your subs in a short period of time. If you want to run your bass boost than you need to turn your gain down to allow for the boosted output from the bass boost.
  22. Ya Sorry S Dime 420 LOL I was in a real pissy mood this morning :)

  23. Yes its normal. That is a very common anti vibration technique and there is nothing to worry about. Sometimes you will see that in the capacitor banks too.
