    X-15 D2 Box Help

I recently purchased a Sundown Audio X 15 D2 paired with a scv-1500d.Ihave never built a box before so I had a local shop build one for me. To my understanding this speaker preforms best in a box tuned to 32hz. I told the shop that I need this built to this frequency but I believe they did not. They built a slot port box, 33.5x20.75x16.5 with a 15.5x23x4 port, with 1 inch wood. After calculating this on numerous box calculators I come up with around 40 Hz. I'm interested in knowing if these calculations are correct and if so what, if possible what the correct dimensions should be with this box. The 33.5 and 16.5 are maxed out on my trunk space but it could've been built up to 8 inches longer. Thank you for any of your help.
  5. I just need some help with understanding how to tune the box to a specific frequency if my box is 36Wx22Dx16H which would make it 5.9 cubes and i want to tune the box to 30hz what do i have to do? I went on a few websites that calculate the port length, but when i put in my numbers my port length didnt make sense. For the port calculator i put the port would be 4 inch wide and 16 inches tall, and came out as a port length that is 25.7 inches long. I want to make a middle port between the subs, is the calculator using a side port and that is why my number is too big??? Please help i don't know what is wrong? thanks

    Sub Box help...

I wanted to know if someone could help design a box for my subs. Its going in a SUV with a width of 40", depth of 23" and can go as high as 17". Let me know if you need any more info. I am looking to make a ported box and really don't know much about how to get it tuned right so I thought I would ask you. The subs that are going in are 2 12" Lanzar Max Pro subs. Thanks.
  9. Hi, I just recently built a new box and it fits much better, but doesn't have quite as much output. I don't know how to post pictures directly, but I will post links to my dropbox pics. I'm just seeing if there is anything I should have done differently and if a trunk build is better when it's facing the rear of the vehicle. My old box was the "high output" box from RF's manual for my T1D215 15". Dimensions are 30 x 18 x 17 with a port that is 3 x 16.5 and 22 inches long (38 hz). I used this facing the rear. Picture for that box: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p72njlbc0l9bmdb/2013-03-10%2001.13.21.jpg (Also new box is in the background) The dimensions of my new box are 40 x 18 x 10 PLUS another baffle and external port and sub. Port is 3 x 12 and about 22 inches long for a tuning of 34 hz. (Net internal volume of 3.1 cu ft.) Pictures for this new box: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fvxcrtza0vpoqdu/2013-03-09%2021.28.22.jpg This picture is where the box is almost finished. Finished pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xozna419h6bif0w/2013-03-09%2022.57.08.jpg?m (The port is about 2 inches away from the frame of the sub) Another finished: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2tz39hg090tmyu0/2013-03-09%2022.57.20.jpg Inside the car: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ik813j43uds9mj6/2013-03-09%2023.29.13.jpg (Disregard the wire mess! Thanks!) And here are some of the FINAL pics: (Wires hidden behind back seat) https://www.dropbox.com/s/8nad7be7fj4nyd4/2013-03-10%2005.52.09.jpg After backseat is in: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i15f3qlzr4yi4s4/2013-03-11%2019.57.22.jpg The new box is more punchy, but only gets loud on half of the notes the other box was able to produce. So overall, probably better SQ. I like it loud however. This new box is not completely sealed off from the trunk though. I just placed clothing around the box for a temporary seal. Don't know if I want to use expanding foam or not yet. Any suggestions? One more box I've tried is 2 15s in a sealed box. The dimensions were as big as possible for fitting it into the trunk. The half of the box towards the cabin is 10" deep, 38" wide, and 14" tall. Second half of the box was 10" deep, 38" wide, and 18" high. This was close to the biggest I could make it. The 2nd half could have been 40" wide. Pics: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vp7950rc08rd5qr/2012-12-31%2016.26.15.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/mzcxvupruuwu7e8/2012-12-31%2016.57.17.jpg Inside the cabin view: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqeur2nb0ndqakk/2012-12-31%2016.18.26.jpg Non-complete pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7qra8o0zwkonpmg/2012-12-30%2011.52.44.jpg This one had SQ but I prefered RF's High Output box with just one 15" instead.

    Box Build Help!?!?

I just ordered two 12" Alpine Type R SWR-12D4 and a Hifonics Brutus Elite 2000.1. I need to build a box to fit in a 2000 Ford Taurus. I am fairly new to the car audio scene so I don't know how many hz to tune the box to or how hard it is. Just looking for a cut list and any suggestions on how I should build this.
