From what i understand, an AC meter has a gain knob that people like to play with. So it can meter very differently depending on who messes with it.

Yes sir you are correct, there´s a sensitive knob or something like that haha, i´m not a big expert on AC´s , my friend is, he was an IASCA judge and everything, he had a lot of good SPL scores back in the day, his shop is the biggest and best one around here, so i guess he set everything on the AC properly :drinks:

Well then the next thing i should mention is the fact that the TL only measures low frequencies. And uses a pressure sensor, the AC measures all frequencies (if i understand it correctly) and uses a microphone.

When you are measuring Sound PRESSURE Levels, what do you want? A mic, or a pressure sensor.

Theres a reason NASA uses the TL.

(and i have not read the thread so i don't know if all this has been said already)

i resolve to be a nicer moderator.

You are right and wrong, you are right when you say TL only measures low frequencies, also, you are right when you say AC measures all frequencies, but that´s when you use the MIC from it, in this case, i used the AC-190 wich is the sensor application for the audiocontrol, so i only measured the low frequencies on this test!!!

The Iasca AC meter was up by 1.5db at finals last year. Two years ago it was dead on with the TL.

that´s what i´ve been told derrick, i honestly thought this test would get me a 1.5 dbs difference, it beats me!!!

By the way, this was the brand new software for the TL.
