Tuning a box

Okay well I am getting an FI BTL 18. Fully loaded. The dimensions of the box are gonna be Width- 40 inches Depth 22 inches and Height - 18 inches. I want the box tuned to 32 hertz using aeroports. I have absolutely no idea how to tune a box or even attempt it. I will be using 3/4 MDF. So if I could get some answers and help it would be greatly appreciated.

If you really need to ask this question then you shouldn't be buying that woofer. In any case, tuning it determined by the enclosures size, port area, and port length. And that box you have posted should have about 120^2 if using a slot port, but with aeros you can use up to 30% less port so around 90^2 port with aeros. So 3 6" aero ports would work well.

That's not necessary. Just because he is new to building boxes doesn't mean he can't have high end equipment. Even if he is a beginner in car audio, as long as he is careful and learns to do things the right way, there is no reason he can't start with high end stuff. It's his money.

I'd say that question applies if they are doing something outrageous like 20 woofers and 50k LOL. 1 btl is still pretty beginner I'd say.

i can help you , if you use 3 4" areo ports the lengths would be 10.5 inches long . or you could use 2 6" inch that are 17 inches long i would go with the six inch good luck , let us know if you need some more help , ohh buy what ever woofers you like , you got to start sometime ...

Thank you so much. I have some other questions if you would like to help me out. Another question I have is how did you figure that out how much port I need to tune it to 32 HZ. and one other is, I was actually considering getting a orion hcca 15 inch. DO you think that the FI would be louder on the same amp as the Orion.

if you going to tune it low go with the fi , it will hit lower , as far a the tuning , i have a program called bass box 6 , it help figure it out ... heres a video that might help you ...
