Cashdollar2009
A DC Level 5 should do you well for that price ballpark, and will enjoy nibbling on 3k as well. slow240sx
Considering running the 18" level 5. Any other suggestions? Will this be ok on 2500rms for a month or 2 till I find a bigger amp? Will this be ok on 2500rms for a month or 2 till I find a bigger amp? No harm in "underpowering" a driver. It will kind of giggle on 2500 watts. The XL is more fit for that power. But if you plan 4k+, grab the Level 5. Quote On 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AM, 'Ray' said: Acoustical energy is free. Electrical energy is not.
CJ18
With the airspace you have I would go with 2 XL 18s and 2 3-4k amps. You can plan on having a fairly high box rise so a 4k amp wired to .7 or 1ohms would do just fine on an XL as long as it is CLEAN power. I just finished a Dodge Caravan with 4 XL 18 and 4 powerbass 3ks with each pair strapped at 2ohms, I am seeing box rise to 6 ohms and am getting 1400w per amp. Based on these clamped numbers I would feel comfortable putting a strapped pair of 3ks per XL 18.
