My question is if the rms of each speaker is 400watts and 800 peak my thinking is that a total rms for all 4 subs would be 1600watts rms and 3200 max... so with that theory to power all 4 with one amp i would want to find an amp thats close without going over those numbers...or should i go with 2 amps and do it in pairs? 96 Ram Build Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
hdorre Posted February 19, 2011 Report Share Posted February 19, 2011 Yes, the total rms is 400watts*4 speakers..so 1600wrms. You can go over those numbers. Some people play 2x those numbers. I'll be going over the rms of my speakers. Your amp won't output a true 1600watts rms though because if voltage drop, impedance rise, etc. You could get 2 amps too. I would strap them though.
