I am looking for an awesome live data tool for obdII vehicles that can live data on the vehicle. I was looking at this on here Link to reader. I really would prefer one that hooks to a laptop as that will save money on hardware, and it gives you a much bigger screen. I am looking to spend 150ish or less, but if it is close please feel free to post it anyways. Would be cool to know what you guys use and think is good. One of the features I want is reading the o2 sensor voltages, plus fuel economy things. I have a 99 dodge grand caravan se 3.3 flex fuel. Also if it is up-datable that would be awesome, so that it is usable in the future!!! Awesome, thanks guys! JaM Customs aka mprete Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 the one you posted would work but would only give you basic generic info. unless you buy the gm or ford or whatever specific program. you wont get much for 150 considering a real scan tool that a shop would use cost about 10k plus vehicle specific "chips" which each one cost about 5k and has to be updated every year. you can get a generic one like you were looking at but really wont show all that much. i will look around but we have one at school that is real nice. but they paid i believe 600 for each unit and you have to again buy manufacture specific types. we have gm and ford. goes to a laptop. ill find out what it is.
