1 ohm?

Recommended Posts

Question: if I have a 2 ohm dvc sub & I wire it down to 1 ohm according to 12 volt.com, but I make the mistake of running my pos & neg from one coil, to the amp. Rather than a pos from one coil to the amp & a neg from the other coil to the amp. Does that make a difference? I had the sub wired that way at a DB drag.

Yeah it makes a difference you were running a 2 ohm coil to the amp. That is ifyou only hooked up that one coil, meaning you were only using half the subs potential. It was hard to understand what you were exactly saying but thats what i got from it. If you hooked up both postitves to the amps positive and bothe the negatives to the amp then you would have 1 ohm load on the amp.

Yea, that makes sense. Thanks man. 12volt diagram is that particular way, so you can have 1 ohm with just 2 wires, rather than 4 wires. I think.

Ahhh. This video is exactly how I had the sub wired, and I thought I was making a mistake. But if you can tell me that the wiring in this vid is correct, then all is good.. I think it is ok, because +&+ are together, and -&- are together and they are both connected to the amp. It is wired different than the 12volt.com but I think it is the same circuit, Parallel right?
