SPLadd1ct Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I will be doing the big 3 in 1/0 gauge under the hood, doing 4 runs from the front battery to the back battery (2+) and (2-), then two runs from the second back battery to the amplifier. My electrical is two XS power D3100's in the back, one XS D2400 up front, a mechman 220 ampere alternator, stinger HPM 1/0 AWG wire. My amplifier is a Sundown 4500D. Where all do I need fuses? 2011 Ford Ranger Sport 4.0 v6 2 sundown audio prototype nsv4 15s crossfire 4k wired to 0.4 ohm 15 banks of maxwell 3.0 caps @ 18v triple alts (x2 us alt 250's, x1 singer 320) 153 at 23hz
Alex K Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 fuse long runs on each end when connecting bats. fuse alt to bat. short runs like bat to bat that are like 2 ft apart are fine unfused. fuse amp to bat 2006 Nissan Z Track. I have seen a car turn into a fireworks show and i think a 5$ fuse is cheaper than major electrical repairs or even a new car. Rebuild Log with the SMD CURRENT.. I have seen a car turn into a fireworks show and i think a 5$ fuse is cheaper than major electrical repairs or even a new car. if the runs x< 2 ft then I don't see the point of fusing. that being said that scenario I most likely with 2 bats right next to eachother. if both ends are secured I don't see the wire magically cutting in half or coming undone. Lol i didnt mean fuse every 1ft run but after watching what a short run unfused did to a friends car years ago i was saying "if there is any chance of that connection shorting" key there is if there is a chance.. im not planning to fuse 2 batts in the rear because they will be maybe 2ft runs but the 2ft run to the alt has one due to the greater risk of something under the hood going crazy with all the moving parts.. thats all Rebuild Log with the SMD CURRENT..
