Rear bagged without tank or punp?

Recommended Posts

hi, one of my friends was wondering if it would be possible to switch out his stock coils in the back of his 2002 gmc envoy to aftermarket bags, something like slam specialties. he is a pretty good fabricator and he would make some strong brackets on top and bottom of the bag to secure them in place of the old coils. he also wanted to not use a air tank or compressor and in place of them just have a few hand valves and tire fills to fill his bags up with a outside tank (like a home compressor). all this to be able to lower his suv when just driving and when he tows or puts his dirt bike rack and bike on he can pump the pressure up so it does not sag like old people :0 come concerns were how fast would air leak out even with a good sealed setup? what would be some good size bags to use and good brands? what psi would you guess he would need?

why doesnt your friend just get air springs? my buddy has them on his Dakota r/t and u release air to lower it and hook up a air compressor to raise it.... thats alot smart idea instead of making your own stuff plus they are only like 250 or 300

going over rms = smaller box, under rms = bigger box...

Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth.

A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

the only time i would run that type of setup is if it was for helper bag setup. if he wants to replace the springs with bags i would HIGHLY recommend even a small tank and onboard compressor...

How is this halfway? I would not recommend taking the coils springs out but add the bags as helpers is the same as an aftermarket helper kit... I have it done on my Blazer to handle the extra weight.

also i dont see what can go wrong. the worst is that he looses his air and has to get to a gas station to fill back up, or fix a airline or replace a bag, but that can happen to anyone with bags. if its done right its not going to be dangerous or anything. right?
