Ive never ran a SSF and have never had a problem, it coulda been your box flexing or if box is close to something in trunk, that would also make noise if box moves and hits it

Im thinking it might be that the port is flexing. Besure to brace the box well and port.

My subsonic is 9hz below my box tuning...... Depends on install and F3 of your car. But op. You very well could be clipping. Maybe not all the time but that certain note could be at a higher DB in that song so while the other 37376 songs you listen to might be fine that one song will drive your amp into clipping. Was it more of a pop pop pop sound or something hitting metal?
