Not to me, I will never switch to a class d. I will Always run Linear Power Class A/B amps ... sorry for not going into details ... Guest Posted March 4, 2011 Report Share Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) sigh, folks. AB amplifiers are less efficient (my RF 200a4 is ~50%), yet they output a much cleaner signal. D amplifiers are much more efficient (70-90%) yet the signal isnt as clean. thats why people generally use Class AB amps for mids and highs and class d subwoofer amps. its harder to hear the unclean signal through subwoofers as opposed to mids and highs. edit: uhoh made a good point. those SQ guys use AB/A amps in their setups to get rid of as much distortion as possible.
