superdave07 Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Alright so heres the deal. In my Civic hatch back. I was running a 150A alt built by a local shop to me. And 2 deka 7as with one stock battery under the hood. The dekas are AMG glass matt batteries. same specs as a yellow top optima. Anyways, i wasnt having a lot of voltage issue, if i burped the system for 5 minutes or more i would start to see voltage drops here and there on low notes etc... my alt took a dump on me, and the shop that built it will not warranty nor fix it for me. They want me to buy a new one and have them build it. which is not cheap by any means. So now im back to the stock alt. 80amp whoot whoot! So onto my question, i can get batteries a lot cheaper than a built alt. I do not want to do business with my local company anymore, and so far im not having much luck finding an alt for my civic that is above stock amperage. So do you think adding two more batteries will help from dropping voltage, or am i simply going to beat my alt to death and cause more problems than its going to help? incase you are wondering im using one audiopipe 3kd and two AP1002's. Have two runs of power and two runs of ground from front to rear, also multiple grounds in the rear of the car. If anyone has any advice please chim in and tell it. I can get some batteries pretty cheap right now from work, however its going to be a minute before i can buy and alt..... Anyone? Thanks!!!! I think i saw one from mechman a while back but i cant drop that much cash right now. im even looking into fabing up some mounts to put a 2nd alt where the A/C compressor used to be. I dont really think having too many batteries will hurt the alt, the alt just may not be able to keep up and eventually hurt the batteries.
