DodgerCannon
Hi all. One of my lv5s started making a strange buzzing noise at low volume. It sounds like the coil scraping on something but when I push the cone slightly it goes away, or if I turn it up loud it goes away. Only seems to do it when the system has been off, or while playing at low volume for a while. Also when it makes this noise its like there is no bass from it just this scraping/ buzzing. I've heard the noise when I've blown shitty subs up for fun just before they pop. Coils are reading right, and the other sub is fine. Has anyone had this problem before? Hoping I don't need a recone already. Thabks guys. Edited March 12, 2011 by DodgerCannon
smashedz28
coil scraping is a bad sign, not sure what it means but something is wrong.

DodgerCannon
After a listen today I think it could possibly be a dust cap issue.... I'll try and get a video, hopefully the Mic will pick up the sound. Thanks guys.

PlugItIn
When I reckoned my level 5s I didn't put enough glue on the dustcap. Deffinatley audible at low volume. Try putting some glue around the cap
