I was thinking of wiring it to the back of the deck would that be a good idea or no?

thats not where you need to monitor the voltage

the amplifier is where you should wire it too

because if your voltage starts dropping you wanna be able to turn it down before the amp gets to a voltage its not gunna like

What gauge does the wire have to be from the meter to the amp?

I used 22 ga for mine, voltage is pretty accurate. As the others have said ... Wire it to the amp or last battery before amp.

2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s

1-DC 5K amp

(1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR)

3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.

(2)-RFT165s components, ...... 4 separate 1 inch tweetersRF T600-2(fronts) Punch 450.4(rear)

Audiocontrol 3.1.

So as far as the green wire do I just tape it and leave it hanging?

The only wire i have connected to my amp is the power wire. For the turn on i just spliced it into my head unit turn on, and for my ground i just grounded to the strut tower of my car. For me, this saved a lot of wire, plus there are 2 less wires at my amp (always a good thing!)
