The 5901 you have to memorize the menus. For instance if i have my truck started with the remote start and it i wanted to manually turn on the rear defroster i would have to press the function button 4 times in a row and then press the remote start button. This will then engage the rear defroster feature. Or if you wanted to get the temperature of your vehicle with the 5901 you would have to press the function button once and then hold it in for like 3 seconds for it to report back to you. If you had the 5902 remote it would easier to access since all you do is page through the menu and hit the corresponding button to the option you want so you dont need to memorize the function key patterns. Remembering the things for the 5901 remote isn't a problem. I would rather save $70 and put it towards the install/what every else install accessories I need.
