Pre amp output voltage question

Recommended Posts

So I recently sold my car and my head unit with it. So I'm in need of a new one. the two I'm looking at are the Kenwood KDC-348U and the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X395 . the 348U has 2.5 volt pre amp outputs and the X395 has 4 volt pre amp outputs. My question is will the a noticeable difference between 2.5 volts and 4 volts? Is it worth the extra $10 to get the X395?

Yes there is a difference, I'd pay the extra 10 dollars.

Current Systems:

2011 BMW 335i

Hertz HDP1

DC LVL3 12" Full Carbon Fiber

2002 Acura Tl
Kenwood DNX9980HD
2 DCLVL4 12" Subs with LVL5 Parts D.7 Coils
DC 3.5k
Hertz HSK-165 up front HCX-165 Rear
Hertz HDP4 Amp
DC Power Engineering 260 Amp Alt
Big 3 and amp powered with KNU 1/0
XS Power D2400 Up Front

i pulled out my dick in class many of times and had it shown. get over it bitch...stupid open legged hairy beavered bitch...

going over rms = smaller box, under rms = bigger box...

Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth.

A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

Sorry for the thread jack, but what makes it better to have higher pre out voltage? I've always wondered but never have found out.

Np. I was wondering the same thing myself.

higher preout voltage lowers the gain setting on your amplifier(s). the higher the voltage, the less your amp has to boost that voltage up. higher preout volts also help with a cleaner signal, as again, the amp doesnt have to increase it as much as a lower voltage.

Besides not having to turn the gain on the amp up higher, the higher the prevolt output the less chance you will hear the musics floor noise threw the speakers.

When you say "the musics floor noise" what do you mean by that? I've never heard that term used before.

i think he means like the engine noise you can get through your rca cables, its like a constant fuzz in the background of the music, but usually if you run your power and rca cables on opposite sides of the car you get very minimal if any
