Hey guys, I've been looking around for a h/o alt for my 95 ford thunderbird and i looked at Mechman and DC Power but as of right now i dont have the money to spend 400-500 dollars on an alt, although with DC and Mechman i know it would be money well spent. But i recently came across a company called DB Electrical that has a 250 amp alt for my car for $270 (link to db electrical alt)

I was just wondering if buying the DB alt would be worth it or if i should just wait it out and get either a DC Power alt or a Mechman alt.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated guys

Edit: will be running an AQ2200 on 2 Sundown SA12's and eventually an AQ 4x90 as well

ive had one on my tahoe for almost a year, hasnt went bad but it sucks. idle voltage is garbage. If you dont mind stepping on the gas to keep your voltage up go ahead and buy it.. i personally wouldnt spend another penny with that company, ill go DC on my next alt.

well i dont play full tilt at stop lights or stop signs, plus my car isnt exactly the nicest t-bird out on the streets either, so that right there makes me a little hesitant to buy a $500 alt, i just need something more than my stock alt, unless you guys think i can get away with running an extra batt in the trunk on my stock alt?

I've installed these a couple times, and the alts worked...but the performance was never there. I was looking for replacements when my iraggi alts started burning up and comparisons to my DC unit and my Mechman unit really weren't that fair. Max output was never reached, horrible idle output, and all around not what I need or will recommend.

I will say though, the staff and sales team were on top of it all, and customer service was definitely up there.$130 is not a big difference for the performance difference.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
