But tests have shown that XLs get louder when theyre on lower power (I think it was up to 3500wrms). Idk whether or not the power was clamped. The RMS ratings are very conservative, mostly for guys who havent figured out that the gain is NOT a power knob! Just ask Thor, he is about to put 5 Level 2 8s on his AB 1100.1. Yeah 5 500w subs on a 10k amp, obviously he wont be letting the amp put out that much power but I guarantee once he is done we will know the maximum wattage the 8s can take daily!!!
