adam6604 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 this is my first box design/build. 2 15" RE SX subs in a 98' ram. ive posted a couple of threads and haven't gotten any help. so thought id try one last time i used the RE L ported speaker calc cause torres box is fucking confusing. .. if you can't read it the demensions are : 46" Width 24" Height 20" Depth 5" wide port x 14.25" length Port area is 112.5" 32.38HZ.. i want low since there 2 15's. for some reason i dont think it has enough port area? and it isn't an L shaped port or should i make it an "L"? i need some help. lol Driving my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 MEGA cab with the 5.7 hemi. Audio: Two 10" Alpine Type R's ( 1000rms models ) Hifonics BRZ 2400.1D @ .5 ohm Two Kinetic 1400 batteries ( soon to have XS power under hood ) Tsunami 1/0 Awg wire throughout truck. Stock Infinity 7 speaker system ( Junk ) soon to be replaced, probably all Alpine. Exterior: 17"Dick cepek rims with 33" Toyo MT tires Bushwacker fender flares Magnaflow true duel exhaust LED tail lights with Projector headlights Plasti-dip fun coming soon!
Bakerman Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Eh, should be enought port area, but a little more wouldn't hurt...also, i came up to a tuning of 37.25hz w/out compensating for speaker displacement...kinda high.
adam6604 Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 hmm alright, i put these demensions in torres calc. and it said 41hz, i dont know how the hell to use the torres calc so i thought this one look better, so what would i do to the port to tune it down to 30-35hz ? Sanitarium Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 port is fine, if not a little BIG contrary to bakerman's opinion. the thing is that that box is nearly 10 cubes after displacement, tuned to 35.5 hz assuming 0.15 displacement per sub. drop that box size down to 6 t 8 cubes, keep your port area around 100, and try again (and get torres!)
