My battery and alternator is stock. I am going to run an AQ1200 and an amp for mids and highs (undecided on the brand, putting out 400 RMS range). Is it necessary to use an extra battery? Do i need to?

I think it depends..if you turn up your system and the lights dim, I reccomend atleast another battery.some cars electrical is better then others when stock..I think even if your lights are not dimming and your electrical can handle your setup, it is still a good think to upgrade it

how many amps is your alternator? i highly doubt you will need another battery, but i'd recommend doing the big 3.

I'm just gonna say everything is stock on a 2000 toyota solara. I bought pioneer 6.5s and 6x9s and largely regret it. By upgrading the big 3, are u talking about going to 0 gauge wires? Because i was trying to steer clear of that because it will draw so much power from my battery.

your alt is 8 0 amps. you SHOULD be fine with just the big 3 done. and i dont understand why you think adding 0 gauge to your existing electrical system will make the battery draw more power. alls it allows your car to do is make its charging system more efficient so you will have less voltage drop

yeah but i'm going to be running 2 amps on it, i was thinking 4g wire, for both, see i'm trying to learn here because i've never wired amps before i've always had somebody else do it.
