OrionStang
I installed a Metra dash kit on my 2010 Mustang with no problems, until I tried the a/c. If I turn on the a/c, fan, or heater, the radio turns off. When the fan is turned off, the radio comes back on and continues like nothing happened. Any installers out there who have installed one of these kits, please chime in here. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would like to use my heater/ac and radio at the same time. Bakerman
By the looks of the pics, the dash kit you got has nothing to do with the wires...i'd pull everything out and double check all your wires, make sure you didn't strip any back by accident...might be grounding itself out somewhere. Loudcivic
im with baker on this one. sounds like you have some kind of grounding issue. i would take it out and just hold the radio and try it again to see if you have the same issue. OrionStang
Yeah, the dash kit has a completely seperate harness from the deck, they are not connected at all. Fucking wierd man. Already checked all the wires I spliced, it all looks good. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

I'll try it. If that is the case, do I just need to find a better ground for the deck? I spliced it into the ground wire on the factory harness. OrionStang
Checked all the wiring again and tried what Loudcivic said. Still does the same shit. I'm thinking about running a second hotwire with an inline switch if I can't figure this out. AMI CUSTOMS
That dash kit is just a plug right? What did you splice into for the radio? Ground, ignition or 12V power any or all weak/lose connections or voltage below range will make the radio shut down. My connections are good, 12v and ground at the factory radio harness, ign off the accessory wire from the ignition. Only thing I can think is, when the fan comes on the voltage in that acc wire is going down. I need to get a new dmm lead(one broke) to check that.
