powering an amp and subs in your home

Alright first post, so right now i have a 4 channel 480w amp hooked up to a 300w max power supply in my house, and playing from the amp are 2 10' mtx subs and 2 12' pioneer subs. if i turn the music up like 90% on my ipod the power supply shuts off and then the amp turns off and nothing plays. this also happens when i bridge just the 10's or just the 12's. it also happened today when i tried to play just the 12's and wire them in parallel and when i turned up the volume to a little less than halfway it turned off. any suggestions on how to power my amp in my house? thanks

You can try to find a laptop power supply with enough amperage (can be hard to find)

you can get a high amperage computer power supply, but thats really about it. Its really ineffiecient to use car amps in houses, reasons why

1.PC power supplies output 12v which most amps want 14.4 to reach a higher efficiency

2. Your turning AC power into DC power with the PC power supply

3. Then the amp is turning it back into AC power for the Subwoofers and speakers

I wanted to do this too, but its not really worth it sadly, run it off a home audio receiver, or get a amp designed for big speakers that you mount on shelves/carts

The reason why the music cuts out is its to much for the power supply to handle it goes into protect and shuts off. ANd for your second statment about it just stopping when switching subs, that's because your changing the ohm loadout from the subs to the amp, making the amp stress itself out along with the crappy power supply. I tried doing this today with no results, my amp light would turn on right as I plug the power supply in, but the nothing and it would slowly dim down to nothing.
