I have always been like this, do it right the first time, dont cheap out on an alt just to get it earlier, spend the extra money and get something that is gonna last ya, same with a battery and everything else. If you plan to keep the car you have then go for the alt first, you cant have power without first making it, and you are going to kill your factory alt here in a hurry son. plus dropping that low is bad for the amps, and pretty much everything electrical in your vehicle. Spend the extra money and get a 270, it will last way longer, or even a 220, dont go below that or you are IMO throwing your money out the window. IF it means you have to save for another month and not bump your subs then so be it, take the sacrifice so you dont destroy your amps and your factory alt. Again, do it right the first time, or dont do it at all, thats my 2 cents, thats how I would do it. When I did mine I got batteries first, but I knew I was selling my car, when I get the new mazda3 im getting a mechman in there right away!! or dc, not sure yet! I would have got the alt first if I was going to keep the car I had at the time, well still have it now, but selling it :D enjoy !!

your confusing me with your double post, looks like you two different people, had to double take there for a sec, ha ha, anyways, yea, its worth saving a bit, I understand the income side of it, I just took a huge hit at work, ableit I am only part time, but I went from 20 hours down to 8 hours, so I have to get a second job to afford the mazda I want to get :( kinda sucks it happened right around when I was about to buy one

Depends if you plan on upgrading. i would go with the 270, theres nothing wrong with having more power on tap.
